UNDER CONSTRUCTION
NOTE: The 15 A330-200 (with Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines) are being retained and updated. (The nine Pratt & Whitney equipped A330-300s have been scheduled for retirement (return to lessor at lease end) by late 2018 due to poor "fit" in the AA fleet (link).) The A330-200s will continue, however, and the launch of the retrofitted A330-200 will see
- 20 Zodiac "Envoy" type Business seats in a 1-2-1 layout (1 blocked for pilot rest)
- 21 Premium Economy (B/E Aerospace) seats in a 2-3-2 layout
- 50 Main Cabin Extra seats (same seats as Y, just greater seat pitch) 2-4-2 (2 blocked for customers requiring customer assistance)
- Main Cabin / Economy seats also 2-4-2
- Ku band satellite based Panasonic WiFi
- Individual personal entertainment screens for every seat
- Seat power
- Noise reduction headsets - Bose in Business, others for Premium Economy
Premium Economy and extended Main Cabin Extra has been installed on the A330-200 fleet. Until 15 Jan 2018, PE seats were available to Elites as MCE on those aircraft with PE; PE are available for sale on that date.

yes. they are standard bulkhead seats, with your tray table build in (vs. a fold down)

Looking at flights to FCO next summer, coach. I could take an extra connection to get to JFK so that I could ride in a CIP 772. Or one less stop through CLT in a 332. I'm thinking the 772 isn't worth it....
Request for opinions: how inferior is the 332, when considering the mini-cabin in the 772 versus the Row 7 bulkhead in 332?

Extra stop definitely not worth it. Unless you really need Wifi on the flight. Main Cabin Extra on the 772 does give you a little more leg room, but it's 3-3-3 vs. 2-4-2. I prefer the 2-4-2, personally.
Also, the 772 CIP has two variants - 45J and 37J. The 37J planes (6 of them, plus 3 currently in HKG getting retrofitted. 14 45J birds) have 3-4-3 in the MCE cabin. That's DEFINITELY inferior to the 2-4-2 on the A332 IMO. Even with the "extra" legroom.

Absolutely. The salvation, I think, is that Premium Economy will eventually offer 9-across on the 45J version to the traveler whose corporate travel policy does not allow business class. But in the meantime, heaven help anyone who gets stuck in 10-across.

As CLT is my closest hub, looking forward to this and other LUS A330s getting the upgrade and hopefully getting me across the pond on my next trip!
