Workaround for Login & "Were sorry, but united.com was unable to complete your request." Problems:

Close United tab, clear browser cache, and delete all United cookies. Instead of logging back in using the home page yellow tile, click on the "Reservations -> Change or view reservations" link, and then login using the "MileagePlus: Sign in or join" link on the upper right of the page.

Not really. The SEA/SEL fare specifically permits the stopover; it would be HCT if you booked a one-way and threw away the KIX-ICN segment (which doesn't really make sense in this context). It's not true that you "never set foot in" ICN; you will land there and later depart. As this construction makes it your ticketed destination, you could even stay a while if you wanted.

This is one of the many confusing consequences of UA's poor implementation of trying to display per segment pricing instead of the minimum total trip price at each stage of the flight search.

I recommend one of the better flight search site, like Google Flights or ITA Software or Hipmunk.

No, you can book it, make the ICN/KIX connections, and be fine.

I am using Chrome, so I decide to see if there is a problem with my password. I enter my MP number and name. It can't find me.

We could not process your request. Please see the message below and make revisions.
The traveler information you entered does not match our records. Please revise the travelers name and/or the frequent flyer program account number.

They are telling me that I don't know my name. I could imagine that I might forget my MP number (though this is not the case, unless my 1K card is wrong). But I do remember my name even if the bomb doesn't.

I was unable to change my flight on Sunday night. I'd tinkered with the idea of upping my departure from Tuesday to Monday but I couldn't do it on the regular site, mobile site or the app.

I would click on "change my flight" and it would give me an error and tell me to call in.

I should hold off booking anything for the next few months. Luckily I am already set until end of June (unless there's an unexpected trip).

Looked at a possible one-way EWR-DEL on April 9.
On United.com the cheapest is EWR-DEL with one stop in HKG at $2143 (Q + Y). Direct EWR-DEL is $3599 (B). NOTHING is showing up in low buckets AT ALL anymore.
Google flights finds the cheapest United flight as: LGA-ORD-EWR-DEL in (T + W and taking 29 hours) for $902 and wants to book it on united.com???

WHAT IS GOING ON????

No GPU or RPU searches possible now.

I booked an LX (intra-europe) flight today, it took an hour to ticket. I then discovered that even booking via UA I'm getting the "light" fares, decided to cancel (2-3 hours after booking). The website errored out after the screen where you choose between refund or flight credit (I selected refund).

Now I don't know what's happening with my payment. The flight initially appeared under cancelled itineraries, and now appears under "Inactive" itineraries. I see the following banner, but selecting "Change flights" also errors out. There's still a hold on my payment card, so no idea what's going on.

"Your itinerary cannot be retrieved because it has been cancelled. You may use the remaining value of your ticket toward a new flight by selecting the "Change Flight" link below. A change fee may apply.

// Edit: turns out my "inactive" itinerary has a cancel link, which lets me choose between refund and credit again, this errors out again. I guess that means the refund didn't work. I might try calling tomorrow, but worst case I'll have to chargeback...

This has happened with my last two refund attempts.

The reservation is cancelled, but you have to call to get a refund. The agent may tell you the refund has been properly requested, but it has not. You will never get your money back without agent intervention.

Sorry, I normally agree with you, but this is not true in my experience on the international routes that I have been flying. I normally see low buckets (T, S, W, Q) on UA even on direct one-way flights.

Of course it will be dependent on availability.

But I'd not use the phrase "That is normal." ESPECIALLY describing anything related to united.com as of late!

Not unusual at all for international one way fares to be sky-high. There is no fare published EWR to DEL which is lower than B. It's silly that the one way fare is more than four times the total cost of the cheapest round trip ticket, but there you have it.

LGA-ORD-EWR-DEL is a really clever way to backtrack without officially backtracking, and fares as NYC to CHI // CHI to DEL.

If K space were open it would almost be cheaper than any OW to book an EWR-DEL RT and throw away the return

and there is no confirmation number. Yesterday when I tried to call in the purchase, I was quoted a Q fare that was 3 times the cost of the ticket online. Today when I called in, I was told that united.com can only sell me a ticket operated by UA or LH ?!
I had a number of issues booking LX flights in December for January travel. Errors, randomly dropped segments, etc. Eventually I got what I wanted for the fare I wanted (like other travel search engines said I could do), but they made an ordeal out of it.

Many of the cheap oneway or half RT fares have combinability restrictions. You may be able to find one way fares that you can book separately, but not with 3-4-5 of them on the same ticket.

Yea, I'm quite pleased with the speed Google has brought to a classically slow search problem. In the early days they suffered from accuracy/optimality issues, but now they match ITA quite well at 10x the speed.

That's not unusual, light vs flexi vs whatever they call it is a function of fare class AFAIK. If you book deep discount, it's a light fare.
