All miles gone?
Hello all, quick question:
I have not used my MP account since late last year (am German, and seldomly used MP) and today logged in for the first time since the merger. To my dismay I do still have my lifetime miles, but all other miles are simply gone, and the account history for 2011 is completely empty.
I still do have an email account statement from Sept. 2011 stating my active mileage account and expiry date (Feb 2013!).
Has that happened some times? Is that just a really bad glitch? Would I call or write to them about that?
Thanks

Maybe the FT naysayers are on to something after all.

Sigh. Just when I thought they were getting their act together, things are still getting messed up. Now I am as frustrated and angry as ever, maybe more, since this was a chance to fix things. I was willing to forget about the past 8 weeks of messed up upgrades (I am 0 for 10 so far since March 1), but now I am as angry and frustrated as ever.
After too many calls and emails, I was able to resolve most of the open system transition caused issues except two:1) missing miles and segment credit for an outbound flight where the return credited fine and 2) trying to get an RPU back because a confirmed first class seat using one was taken away at the gate after I arrived with a boarding pass for it, due to an equipment change, and then not being able to get any seat on the plane since I was then put on the oversold list.
For the credit issue, no response from 1kvoice, and two phone calls only resulted in "yes, we see it, we will give you credit." I was happily surprised on a third call last week when I was told "yes, I see we were waiting for something the tech guys were going to fix it, but I see it did not work for your account and I will now manually credit you." It was customer service like the old days! As promised, the segment showed up two days later, but the miles are not showing up now in the RQM or lifetime total a week later. This is crazy. The RQM miles show up in the list, just not the total at the bottom. An no, there is no negative entry to offset it anywhere. If you use a calculator you can see it does not add up. This is basic arithmetic, how hard can it be?
For the missing RPU (and a faint hope that I would get some compensation for being downgraded to a later flight with a middle seat for a flight cross country), I actually got a response back from 1kvoice yesterday, about 6 weeks after writing. Alas, the response was a canned message along the lines of "if you are experiencing issues, please use the website or call blah blah blah..." At the bottom it then said "You will be receiving an email in a week with a travel certificate." I am not counting on it.
EDIT: OK, have to be fair and report that an hour after I posted this, the RQM's not adding up issue was suddenly fixed. It is off by 3 miles, but somehow it got mostly fixed.
NEW EDIT: Hmm. Maybe someone here is watching. After all the waiting, a few hours after posting this, not only did the RQM issue fix itself, but I received a certificate for $150. I never got my RPU back, or any mention of apology for having my confirmed first class seat taken away, but $150 is better than nothing. Maybe this is progress.

Looks like mixed results... Obviously some things that have gone badly. But also some positive signs as well. It will be interesting to see what Q2 and Q3 look like.
"The airline previously said revenue in February was hurt by a switch to a single computer system for forecasting demand. It ended up selling more seats at lower fares than it would have otherwise. "
What system is this?
Contrast UA to DL:
"Delta Air Lines Inc. on Wednesday reported strong revenue gains for the first quarter as it trimmed capacity and increased fares, a strategy that has helped offset high fuel prices but has made flying more costly for passengers.
Delta's unit revenue, or the amount taken in for each seat flown a mile, increased by 14% from the first quarter of 2011—a gain that is expected to lead the industry."
UA: "Per-mile passenger revenue rose 5.5%, a smaller gain than other airlines have been reporting."

Clearly Mr. Smisek doesn't follow Flyer Talk...

Basically, he responded to vocal criticism from sports talk radio criticism (KNBR) by saying these words:
"People are getting the message. The right people are getting it, but the people we want to further attract, or make sure we hold onto, are being affected by what we consider the lunatic fringe. Thats my frustration, that they dont have a bigger view of the world."

getting back to the purpose of this thread
Made a reservation for late july to Europe, UA-LH combo
the price premium over lowest fare for W was only $200 ^
ticketed in 5 minutes ^
attempted to request upgrade online, but because of LH segment could not
checked the upgrade individual segment box, no help
call to manually apply upgrade, answered and handled in under 10 minutes ^
upgrades waitlisted, not surprize
noticed my GPU inventory did not decrease
two days later one TATL segment (on old 777) cleared but had warning that I needed to call to re-issue tickets
called (quick pickup ^) and was told my GPU had not yet been pulled and would need to wait until UA gets to it -- others were ahead on me in queue
no answer as to why it took extra step to pull GPU
so like ever reservation since 3/3, something when wrong
have had to call twice so far and likely more in the future to a simple reservation that for PMUA and likely PMCO would have required no calls.

I've got a reservation to SFO in two weeks, and just today, received an email offering a buy-up to F. My friend (GM) is already in F, thanks to my CR1s. In the email, I was offered $430, but also given the chance to use miles. However, .sux said that I'd have to pay a $75 co-pay, per segment.
Guess they haven't gotten the message around that elites are exempt from the co-pay.
Rules for Premier member co-pay exemption
Premier members will not be a charged a co-pay on routes within the US-49 and Canada and from the US-49 and Canada to Hawaii (except between HNL and DEN/EWR/IAD/IAH), Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean or Northern South America (except between EWR and LIM). Premier members will also not be charged a co-pay for flights within Intra-Asia (except between NRT and BKK/SIN) and non-stop flights to/from GUM (except between HNL and GUM).
Non-Premier members are exempt from the co-pay when sponsored using miles from a Premier members MileagePlus account.

When modifying an award ticket, I saw the following (bolding mine):
This award is subject to MileagePlus terms and conditions. Changes involving the same origin and destination are permitted for no charge when made at least 21 days before departure, or $75 when made less than 21 days before departure. All other changes and redeposits are permitted for $150. Awards redeemed from Global Services member accounts are exempt from all award change and redeposit fees. View the full rules and MileagePlus terms and conditions.
How to keep the value of this ticket? This ticket is valid up to one year from the date of redemption.
Sorry, no upgrades. Economy Class travel awards are not eligible for upgrades of any kind.
Planning to check bags? Please review our baggage policies to determine if any fees apply.
Your ticket is a contract. Your travel is subject to United’s contract of carriage.
First, in addition to GS, 1k and Plat members are also exempt from all award change and redeposit fees. Obviously this line was updated since the merger, since GS didn't exist on Continental. Why update it but make it not fully correct?
Second, some United credit card holders are eligible for upgrades on award tickets (myself included). This one may be excusable since it could get more confusing that it's worth to put a disclaimer stating that certain credit card holders are exempt. But, still, it's factually incorrect.
In the scheme of things, this is a small issue. Fortunately, as a 1k, it did not charge me a change fee. But still, this gives a poor and possibly confusing impression of United.

Just checked info a LH flight and agent pointed out no FF number on my reservation. I gave her my MP card and she commented on the newness, as well as the 'odd' number. (I did enter my MP number on my reservation, but it doesn't appear in LH system)
Still cannot retrieve reservations on the LH site using UA MP number (always could in past) She told me that they have seen a lot of 'odd' things from people connecting from UA in the past month, including a lot more mistagged luggage originating from UA.
She wasn't aware of the merger until I pointed it out, but said that definitely LH has also noticed some odd things since 3/3.
