I notice now that the Toronto centre shows there are simply no more appointments. I saw yesterday they were up to Dec 31st, so maybe they have to add more dates/times for the new year.

I was one of the invitees, but I rarely go through DFW, and never go to Miami. Meh.

I applied August 7th. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I was starting to wonder a little as a couple of people I know who did theirs in the spring got conditional approvals in about 4 weeks.

I applied on Sept 10, and I was getting worried because others had reported Global Entry approval in just 4-7 days. It looks as though it will take a few more weeks.

Can anyone explain the need for the iris scan? Is it necessary to clear immigration/customs at the airport?

Unfortunately the iris scan is not available at the Seattle enrollment center. Is it possible to get an iris scan at a Canadian airport after the time of initial enrollment?

The iris scan is the means of identification used at the NEXUS kiosks at the airports. You can get the scans done afterwards; no appointment needed.

Thanks - that is great news.

Came into YYZ at about 10:00pm on Thursday night, inbound from the US, and saw something that I haven't seen before.

At customs, the line to use a Nexus machine was about a dozen people deep - roughly the same size on either side of the customs hall. The regular line was pretty big, as well. I often come in around ether 9:00pm or 11:00pm, and am used to seeing no more than a few people in the regular line, and I've never had to wait for more than the person to finish using a machine for my turn. Took, perhaps about 5 minutes for me to get to a machine. I had a bagged checked (Priority), and despite it not coming out right at the beginning, there was no one at the bag carousel yet by the time I left with my bag.

I suspect this all was a result of delays to the security work to rule, but still, something of note.

Anyone have experience doing a walk-in at SFO to get my fingerprints done for Global Entry?

When I was flying YVR-SAN a couple of weeks ago the line at TB security was about 15-20 minutes (not too bad) but the line at preclearance was insane. There were 2 Nexus and 2 GE machines, but there was only one wicket open for crew and Nexus/GE, so it was pretty bad. 10 minutes to wait for a machine then about another 5-10 minutes to show the Nexus card and receipt and get waved through. Couple of DL FAs from MSP weren't very impressed that crew had to stand with all the Nexus/GE passengers and were not even allowed to go over to the second wicket which they later opened.

I doubt anyone else would have any experience getting your fingerprints done, no matter where! :p

Pearson T1 this morning. If you did not have your card out and ready, gave you a hard time. Mine was in my pocket and out in a flash. Not good enough.

Stamped over the bar code on the boarding pass to mess up the rest of my trip through the airport.

So be prepared.

Glad to see the grammar police have arrived... Feel free to replace "my" with "ones" in my message above.

Sorry, do you mean at security (in the Nexus lane) or at cbp to pre-clear for the US?

OP means the CBP guy who collects your blue form before you leave the customs hall and queue up for security. I can guess which officer it was, he is a real number.

I go out of my way to thank him, wish him a nice day, ask a question and he refuses to make eye contact or say anything. Once I got a slight nod but still without eye contact. And always, ALWAYS with the stamp on the barcode!
