The people at the Nexus office in Blaine told me that you can make a verbal declaration anywhere, so Peace Arch should be fine.

Went through Pre-Clearance at YYZ a couple of weeks ago, and didn't need a customs card. I just said I had Global Entry, and she waved me through, I don't think she even noticed I pulled out my passport with the CBP sticket.

You always need a customs form for CBSA - GE can only be used exclusively into the US, and if you use Nexus, you are required to fill in a declaration.

I suspect if they wanted to revoke your Nexus, they would have done it right there and then. And at that point, there would have been nothing you could argue about. It is clear that you need your card with you any time you use it, and quite frankly, I understand and agree with a zero tolerance policy. If they don't follow that, it means more checks for everyone, and a loss of value for the majority of members who go by the rules.

That said, I also suspect that if they didn't revoke your membership immediately, they probably won't at this point. Doesn't mean they can't do it still, but might be less likely. I'd also expect more referrals going forward.

So, if I'm over the exemption limits, is there the same 'consideration' given with a normal Customs guy or is it an automatic pay duties on whatever's over the limit?

TDC = you're paying
Verbal = officer's discretion

And the guy at the enrollment office said that's the best part of making a verbal declaration!

I got a pretty nasty blister on my thumb, about 1/3 of the fingerprint size, on which I've cut off the swelled skin and now it's dry, but I keep having to tear off extra teeny tiny bits of skin as they dry off...I've never had a blister on a finger before, so I have no idea if my prints have been affected, but I do know at least that this whole bit of skin is pretty ruined.

Now I will need to use GE at LAX in a few weeks, and now I'm wondering if the kiosk will be able to read my print or not and I will not be able to use the kiosk? or will the scanner be able to read around the gash and still allow me thru?

Should I just go to the YUL office before leaving to have that print re-taken with the gash, since scars don't go away and it will always show anyway?

Thumb prints? I thought you just did the four-finger scan at the GE kiosk?

That's all I had to do when I used GE at ORD.

Not always. Canada customs called me because they couldn't read one of my CC numbers on the form. I asked if I owed anything and they indicated that if you are close they don't always charge?

Patience paid off as I've been checking the last few days and scored an earlier interview date, 27th Oct., instead of the original 28Dec. ^

I got charged $3.14 once using a TDC. (Not that I really cared - I didn't realize at that point that you could make a verbal declaration, and perhaps you couldn't then [November 2010] - but I saved about 20 minutes so I'd have gladly spent $3.)

Approval came through today. Mrs. phoned me to see if she should take an appointment at Fort Erie tomorrow since there were no openings for Pearson. By the time she went back to accept it, it was gone, but an appointment for Pearson on Friday was open so she took it! :D
