Thank you. Will post when I know the outcome.

That's not really necessary, it is?

Ha! The thing I didn't know existed was not the result from Google, but the condescending, sarcastic tone of the letmegooglethatforyou site. You are completely blind to the comments being made about your personal and tiresome vendetta, aren't you?

Not at all. Comments like those just fly by me. Called and spoke with an officer and faxed in documents and was given a file number. Very friendly agent and said this would be processed due to the fact that registration for NEXUS was in Canada but affidavit states Senegal. Therefore this is considered fraud and he said the first step was with the US than Canada. ;)

If it helps others, then yes it is necessary.

Did my crossing by Ghettohound at the Rainbow Bridge - the guy just scanned my Nexus card and didnt ask any other questions. Very quick.

Also, arrived at IAD this morning from EZE, anyone who has been here at 6am when GRU,EZE,ACC,KWI,DXB get in, knows the insanity at customs, GE once again proved really really handy.

If not already posted, there is now a GE kiosk at the YYZ-T1 pre clearance area next to the NEXUS kiosks. Expect there would also be one at T3 but cannot confirm. Didn't try it though as I had already packed my passport away.

The GE kiosk in the US Connections queue was turned off yesterday. :( I had to use NEXUS and quickly scratch out a Customs form (which GE doesn't require). Maybe the Canada-origin queue is the best bet if one doesn't have checked luggage to claim on the Connections side.

Yes, I thought that's what I saw when flying out of YYZ earlier today. Didn't use the kiosk (GE or Nexus) since the regular customs line was quite short, and I had a food item to declare, so avoided the trip to secondary by waiting perhaps 5 mins to just talk to an officer in the regular line. It appeared to be working though (I could see it was on from the regular line).

Of note, at least something that is new to me, is the Nexus and GE kiosk's are now all the way on the left side of the customs hall, instead of the middle which was where the Nexus kiosk's used to be. Not sure when these moved - I think the last time I entered the US through YYZ T1 was in early July, and they were certainly not over there at that point.

NEXUS card after naturalization

Hello,

I will be taking the oath of US citizenship on Sept 23. I'm wondering whether after Sept 23 I will continue to be able to use my NEXUS card (for travel between the US and Canada) and, if so, under what conditions:

1. One scenario would be that, since the NEXUS card is a WHTI compliant document, I would only need to update my NEXUS card with the details of my naturalization certificate and then I should be good to go.

2. A second scenario would be that I will require a US passport but then can update my NEXUS card with the new passport details and then I should be good to go.

3. But a third scenario would be that I'll need a completely new NEXUS card because on the front of my NEXUS card I'm identified as a Canadian citizen--and I need US citizen documents after getting my citizenship.

Which, if any, of these scenarios is closest to the truth?

I did just this. Congratulations, by the way.

A passport identifies you as a citizen of a country, so one would think that adding a US passport to your NEXUS file will automatically identify you as a US citizen as well. NEXUS has a "primary citizenship" field, but it doesn't make sense that it would have to be US over Canadian. Then again, this is straightforward logic, which not always works with customs and immigration.

I can't tell you exactly; you're best to contact the Nexus information line (they have a phone number) and it's not a long hold.

I can tell you that you definitely need to contact them before you cross next time via Nexus with your new citizenship. The officer when I did my interview was understanding when I applied that I had not mentioned my Australian citizenship (I do not enter or leave the US or Canada on it so I was not aware that was relevant) but said regardless of whether that was the case you have to tell them about it (I just popped in with my passport the next day to wind it all up).

It's fairly easy to get a passport anyway, may as well get on with it :D

I think the only logic that applies to any Nexus question is : FULL DISCLOUSURE

Base your decision on that, and work from there. If you don't disclose, they can shut you down.

Thanks for the replies folks.

All three scenarios that I have described involve full disclosure.

My question is not whether I should disclose whatever documents/status I have, because obviously I should.

My question is what document(s) I need to have (and of course disclose) once I become a dual citizen if I want to use my NEXUS card.
