Anyone remember if you can cross back over to the normal immigration line after going through security using the nexus line? I need to get my TN, which entails going through the regular line, but if the nexus security line is faster I'd like to use that

I can't see why not - the CATSA and CBP areas are separate at any airport I've been to in Canada, with choices to make before and after each segment of the process to enter airside.

Can I still use my nexus while my early renewal is processing? Card doesn't expiry till Aug, if I start the renewal next week when I get my new passport, is the card still valid?
TIA! |

Until they send out your new card, the old one still works.

Your card expires and renews on your birthday. If you renew early, you are extending to the next birthday. Until they send out your new card, the old one still works.

Your old card will actually remain valid until you receive and activate the new one.

Just had my interview at Sweetgrass last week (April first week 2018). Now honestly the weather wasn't great so should've chosen Florida, but well.... The center is pretty small just a few chairs for waiting and one room where CBP and CBSA would ask you questions. They were very friendly and the interview went nicely. Although no approval email a few days later, still waiting :( . Note they don't have IRIS scan there so you cant fly in using NEXUS till you get that done Canada side. Also, they're only open Tues and Thurs and won't answer phones on other days.

Thank you seawolf. I’d like to add that despite the discomfort the application was approved one week after the interview. So it does mean that applications being approved the same day might be a characteristic of interviewing at the larger/Canadian centers. Waiting for my card now .

For ch671 and others, you can still fly into Canada having gotten NEXUS in the US (i.e. without iris scan)--you can still use the dedicated NEXUS lanes, but you'll just have to talk to a person instead of just using the machine. The machine will spit out a slip of paper telling you to see a CBSA officer. Still quite a bit faster than standing in the general customs lane...
And you should be able to get an iris scan registered at any of the Canadian centres that do it without an appointment--I called ahead and was told just to walk in, and they fit me in quickly between appointments. |
Be aware it depends on airport. At YUL, you should just use the special services/diplomat lane because if you go to NEXUS kiosk you will have to backtrack up to enter the special services/diplomat lane.
