Is there an easy way to get from YYZ to AESC? I plan to take the UP Express to YYZ, but then somehow need to get to AESC. Any idea how to do it?

Coming from downtown Toronto, take the subway to Islington station then take Mississauga Transit bus route 57. It stops right next to the AESC on Convair Drive. On the way back, walk to Renforth and take bus route 7 to YYZ T1.

If you take a taxi from the terminal, the minimum fare is around $20 even for the 5 minute ride to the AESC. You'd honestly be better off renting a car than doing a round-trip in a taxi.

That's odd. My daughters were 7 and 9 when they interviewed for NEXUS (at YVR), and while CBP did not take their fingerprints citing their age, their irises were indeed scanned by CBSA. They were 11 and 13 when they first used the iris scanner to enter Canada and it worked for both of them without a problem.

My kids were 5 and 7 when we got Nexus, and both had their iris scans done at that time. The CBSA agent was skeptical about kids that young being able to follow the instructions, but the office wasn't busy so they gave it a shot and it worked just fine.

IIRC, CBP had a privacy issue with fingerprints and minors, but I believe that was worked out a few years back. I stopped in the Global Entry office in DC (Reagan Building) and had their fingerprints added and pictures updated. No issue, and now GE works for them.

Good info. Thanks! I guess I can take the UP back to downtown.

Hi,

I got my conditional approval a couple weeks back but haven't been able to find a date I can travel to book the interview (I put it as far back as possible for now).

Now I have to move before I can go for the interview. Is the address change going to cause a big issue? Will I have to put in a new application all together? I've been waiting since August... :(

As long as your identification will reflect your new address or you have some other proof of new address by the time of the interview then you will not have an issue. Also, you need to remember that they only give you 30 days from the date of conditional approval to schedule an interview, so you will need to do that very soon.

I managed to get myself locked out of my account as apparently all the passwords I was trying to change to were previously used, and 3 attempts gets you suspended

Have to call in now, and don't expect that to be easy

I did schedule an interview for end of January, but I know it's very unlikely that I will be able to make it. I will be flying in/out YYZ around the holidays and I keep checking back every day for open slots. So far it's not looking good.

Can I keep rescheduling for a later date to buy myself more time? That way I can get an ID with my new address on it before my interview as well.

Yes, it seems like there is no limit to how many times you can reschedule.

Actually I think there is an expiry for conditional approval, I don't think you can push it past eighteen months or something? Even if the scheduler let's you

I think that the majority of us want the membership approved as soon as possible and I cannot imagine anyone delaying an interview for eighteen months anyway.

Detroit Enrollment Center Interview

My wife and I applied for Nexus in mid October and just received our conditional approvals. We scheduled the interview in Detroit. Great about Detroit is that we got our interviews for just a little over a week out.

Has anyone else interviewed in Detroit. We were hooping that the enrollment center was at the tunnel, but found out it is at the Ambassador Bridge. Not a big issue, but we live three and a half hours away and will actually be arriving the day before and staying at the Marriott Renaissance Center downtown the night before.

I Google Mapped the drive, and it takes us through Canada. We don't really want to deal with boarder crossings and run the risk of being late. All the USA based alternatives still have one going over the bridge to Canada and back. It seems the maps think you can only get to this place on the way from Canada. There are no routes on lesser surface streets. All seem to take one way out of the way since they all get on a major highway. The directions on the interview paperwork are either from Canada or from USA off of 75 or 96. It looks to be about a 27 minute drive. Looking at surface streets, I think it they would take a lot less time. While the address is W Fort Street and almost a straight shot from downtown, it doesn't look like there are any entrances to the compound from these surface roads. The interview paperwork says there is no pedestrian entrances.

Is there an entrance to the Enrollment Center from any of the surface streets? Is there perhaps an entrance to the Ambassador Bridge crossing from the surface streets vs 75? If all else fails, we will just get our way back to the highway.

Also, it doesn't look like the Detroit Enrollment Center has an iris scan camera. Though something I read on the Canadian site is that one can get their iris scan at the Windsor Airport. We can definitely do that, but is it even necessary? We likely won't be using NEXUS for air travel in and out of Canada and I think the iris scan is only required for that. So should we forego that or get it anyway since we are not that far away anyway? It will also give us the opportunity to grab some poutine for lunch before driving back home.

Wondering if someone could help me with a quick question. I have Global Entry and my sister has a NEXUS card. We are traveling by car from Canada into the US. Can we use the NEXUS car lane? Her car is registered with NEXUS. I'm just wondering if Global Entry users can go through the NEXUS car lane.

Unfortunately not, you would need NEXUS too in order to use the NEXUS lanes. You will have to travel through the regular lanes.

crimsona Dec 8, 2016 5:38 pm

Above poster is wrong. Southbound into the US you may use Global Entry cards, just no northbound use. Straight from CBP website

How are Global Entry cards used?

CBP accepts Global Entry cards for lawful U.S. entry at land and sea ports of entry. Global Entry cards have radio frequency identification, which enables their use at SENTRI and NEXUS expedited travel lanes entering the U.S. Global Entry cards are not valid for entry into Canada via the NEXUS lanes and kiosks.
