The CBSA is located at the Nexus Detroit enrollment center, located at the base of the Ambassador Bridge on the Michigan side.

Or Whirlpool (Niagara Falls, NY). Interview on the US side and you get a one-time immediate use pass to go over to Canada for the iris scan. Only trouble is that once in Canada, you cannot take the Whirlpool Bridge back to the US, and have to drive to another PoE.

I had assumed that after successfully completing the interview, they would give you a slip of paper for going over to the Windsor airport immediately to get the iris scan completed. The example of Niagara Falls and Fort Erie came to mind. |

You are still better off going to a Canadian airport, just my opinion.
The next time I visit Canada on a trip, I will stop in at a CBSA office and get the iris photograph. But it is not worth a trip for that sole purpose. |
We live in Detroit & had our Nexus interview at the base of the Ambassador bridge, and then a couple of months later when we were driving to visit friends in Toronto we stopped at YYZ & walked in, no appointment necessary, and got our iris scans - we were in & out of YYZ in under 30 minutes, including parking.

That is what I presumed would occur with interviewing at the Detroit enrollment center and the Windsor Airport CBSA iris scan.

Word food have been on NEXUS kiosk for about a year. It was introduced shortly after they got rid of E311 for NEXUS members. Technically this post is in the wrong thread. |

Just a heads-up for Nexus or GE members using a Nexus console while entering Canada - the questions were modified to now include the word "food", where it never existed on the printed cards or the machines prior to being able to use them instead of the cards. If you are entering Canada and using Nexus, you'll need to follow the same declaration process so you don't risk losing both Nexus and GE if they are tied to each other.

I have Global Entry and have been conditionally approved for Nexus. I will be interviewing next month at the Detroit enrollment center. I live far away from the border, so this is a trip.
(Originally I was going to interview at Blaine, but Allegiant canceled my flight to nearby BLI as they are going through some difficulties during their fleet transition from MD-80 to Airbus). I understood previously that Detroit enrollment center did not have iris photograph capability on location. One would have to get the scan done at the Windsor Airport. I believed I could just cross the river and get the scan done the same day, as a friend did who interviewed at Niagara Falls Nexus enrollment center to convert from Global Entry to Nexus. He was given a slip of paper after his interview to go over to the CBSA in Fort Erie for an iris photograph. I called up the CBSA at the Windsor Airport and learned one must have the Nexus card in their possession for an iris photograph. One cannot go over there right after their interview in Detroit to do this. I have a Global Entry card with a PassID (Known Traveler Number). While Canada does not recognize Global Entry for admission, I have been told one's Known Traveler Number remains the same converting from Global Entry to Nexus. Couldn't I go with my Global Entry card and passport after the interview and approval to have an iris photograph and get it associated with my KTN as it will remain the same? Why doesn't Detroit Nexus enrollment center have the iris scan while Blaine does? Perhaps as Detroit major airport is DTW on the US side and Blaine serves YVR? |

I don't see the words GE or Global Entry anywhere in my post.
The quote right below mine of yours, where I quoted bocastephen is correct. my inquiry was to his post. |
If you are using Nexus at the land border and there's 3 people in the car with Nexus, do we need to scan all 3 cards at the RFID scanner or is scanning 1 card enough until we talk to the officer?

I've been having a hard time finding this information online but please forgive me if this question has already been asked.
I'm a Canadian citizen and I've been working in the US for the past three years under a TN visa. I came to Canada while my TN Visa is being renewed and I thought I would apply for a NEXUS card. Does anyone know if I will be able to do this as my "current residence" is in the US but I don't have a valid TN visa anymore? TIA! |
