Mobile login info should be in the email you received with your Diamond registration details (mobile companion is only with Diamond). It is under the heading [KVS Tool Mobile Companion Access]

At least that is how it was for me

Indeed, as a Diamond-tier KVS Tool member, your Mobile Companion credentials will be included in your welcome/renewal e-mail message.

KVS, thanks for pointing me to the MPM feature. I'm still not sure I'm reading the output quite right.

Example routing: CCU-BOM-LHR-MAD-DUB-ORD-AUS
Result:
[KVS Availability Tool 6.3.0.R2/Diamond - Reference: Maximum Permitted Mileage [MPM]: CCU-BOM-LHR-MAD-DUB-ORD-AUS/AA]
Code:

CTY  DC  TPM  CUM  MPM  DC SUR  HGL  LWL  25M  XTRA
CCU 3
BOM 3 EH  1035  1035
LON 2 EH  4469  5504  6576  EH  0M  1072    0  8220    0
MAD 2 EH  785  6289  6549  EH  0M  260    0  8186    0
DUB 2 EH  905  7194  6921  EH  5M    73  273  8651    0
CHI 1 AT  3666 10860 11176  AT  0M  316    0 13970    0
AUS 1 US  970 11830 12319  AT  0M  489    0 15398    0

BTW, this is a real example, because apparently there is no direct way to get from LHR to DUB on a oneworld award.

Question: I am concluding that the MPM from CCU to AUS is 12319 miles, and since my CUM miles are 11830, no surcharge is due. Is that correct?

Should I worry about the DUB line that shows CUM exceeding MPM by 5%. For the routing to be valid without surcharge, do only the origin and destination matter, or are the intermediate CUM and MPM important too?

Thanks!

Can't See Award Routing

Hi. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I'm searching for award availability from YYZ to SCL using the SNT method, and I'm getting a "No Results/Route too Complex" message. I can search routes to other cities and get results, even if there is no availability, and I can find this route on the general availability tab.

How many connections does it take to get from YYZ to SCL? The SNT method (based off of NH's award search) can't do too many connections. I think it maxes out at 2 connections, but it might be as low as 1. You can search going segment by segment if you know the connection cities you want.

Welcome to FT, danananan! The ANA tool (SNT Method) is good put its not that great for routes with lots of connections. For whatever reason it doesn't pick up the direct AC flight and all other ways for that routes are 3 segments which the ANA tool can't do. Just use the AC tool (ITA) and you will see available seats for that routing.

Welcome to FT & KVS Tool, danananan!

The automatic route construction capabilities of the [SNT Awards/StarAlliance] Method in the KVS Tool are limited to 1 connection (2 flight segments).

The [ITA: Awards/AC-StarAlliance] Method can automatically build up to 3 connections (4 flight segments).

Please see http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Methods for details.

What day of the week did you try to check? The YYZ-SCL flight does not operate on Mondays and all other *A options would require > 1 connection:

Yes, your total TPM is 11830 and the MPM for CCU-AUS is 12319.

The intermediate values do not matter -- they are just there FYI.

I can reproduce the problem. 29 November 2011 for example. ANA thinks its all too hard while AC finds the non-stop flight.

You just need to select the [+1D] POS option, as the closest flight in the opposite direction is on Wed:

It's an issue with the [ITA: Awards/AC] engine -- please use the [Awards/StarAlliance] Method for this route:

Try the Sabre; Fares/DotRest Method instead....seems to be fine
(note, I am a KVS beginner, so apologies if I am missing something important about methods!)

The [Fares/TVN] Method was, in fact, temporarily unavailable, but the issue has now been resolved -- please restart the KVS Tool and try again.

Indeed, simply switching to another Method provides an immediate work-around.

Thanks so much for the help. I was able to find the YYZ-SCL flight for Tuesday, 2 Nov by selecting the +1 day option. I'm actually trying to track it to see if they release additional business class seats because as of now, I have an award seat in coach for 10 hours <shudder>.

If I'm trying to plan more complex routes, I'd need to upgrade to Diamond tier to use the ITA method?
