I have been an EF user for a couple years now and only discovered KVS last week. I am SO impressed with the diamond product.

Thanks KVS for making my life 10x easier!!!

Now if you can just get KE award availability somehow...

I learned this the first day I used KVS and saw J class fares that were $300 less than AA's website. Yes, taxes & fees are additional!

I attempted to use the KVS tool but all I got was what appeared to be a mandatory registration and donation page.
It possible to use the KVS tool to determine if it suits our needs or is the "donation" mandatory?

JIMCHI Jul 13, 2011 6:22 pm

As best I know, you a use it for 2 months for $15. That would be a trial or for those who travel infrequently and have need for the service for only a limited time.

Indeed, the 2-month introductory Platinum/Diamond options are specifically designed for those, who are looking to give the KVS Tool a try: http://Join.KVSTool.com/

Nevertheless, Trial requests can be considered on a case-by-case basis and should be submitted via http://Contact.KVSTool.com/

M&M vs. StarAlliance availability

Love the tool - one question:
I've read that M&M publishes better award availability for its own members than it releases to Star as a whole. However, using the Awards/M&M method returns results termed in YS, CS, and FS. According to the FAQ, these are "normal capacity-restricted Awards" that are "available for redemption across the entire Alliance." However, the availability from Awards/M&M does not match that of Awards/StarAlliance or Awards/AC-StarAlliance for YS, CS, or FS.

Example:
09 MAY 2012, LHR-ZRH 2, seats

Awards/StarAlliance shows FS/ CS- YS- for every nonstop flight
Awards/M&M shows CS+ for every nonstop flight

Do the YS and CS for different methods here mean different things (i.e., different inventory)?

What you are seeing is correct as M&M does, indeed, occasionally provide "better award availability for its own members than it releases to Star as a whole".

The Award Booking Classes are the same (e.g. X/YS); it is the Availability that varies: http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Factors

Got it - it's still X, but the quantity depends who (NH vs. LH) is asking. Thanks!

Welcome to the KVS Tool -- glad you're enjoying your membership!

Rest assured, we will add support for KE Award Availability the moment it becomes possible to do so, as KE is currently the only remaining carrier within Star Alliance/OneWorld/SkyTeam that is not fully supported in the KVS Tool Award Availability searches.

Hi KVS,

Been a while since I posted here, still loving the tool after all these years.

Maybe it's because it's Sunday morning in Sydney and I had a few too many last night, but in searching flights I came up with the following:

[KVS Availability Tool 6.2.0/Diamond - Amadeus Operational Info: US 662/18 Sep 2011]
Code:

US AIRWAYS - US 662

[Planned Flight Info]
DEN-PHX        12:15/Sun - 13:04/Sun  01:49
PHX-SNA        13:55/Sun - 15:12/Sun  01:17

[Flight Notes]
PHX-SNA        DEPARTS TERMINAL 4
DEN-PHX        ARRIVES TERMINAL 4
DEN-SNA        CLASSES SHOWN FAYBMHQNVWLSTGKUER
DEN-PHX        MCT FLIGHT TRACKING D/D
DEN-SNA        MCT FLIGHT TRACKING D/D
PHX-SNA        MCT FLIGHT TRACKING D/D
DEN-PHX        ON-TIME PERF 8MAY11
PHX-SNA        ON-TIME PERF 9MAY11
                SECURED FLIGHT
                ET/ ELECTRONIC TKT CANDIDATE
DEN-PHX        081/006/N/000/ MAY11
PHX-SNA        090/006/N/000/ MAY11

What doe the last two lines mean? I can't for the life of me decipher it. Is it something around on-time performance or open seats or ...

I did a google search, searched this thread, and searched the KVS website and came up with donuts.

britinva79 Jul 16, 2011 7:07 pm

More and more I am traveling with just my ipad2 and sometimes it is useful to be able to check award availability but the mobile app does not seem to support that. Any thoughts on when it might be available or if there's another way of checking awards when traveling and not using a PC?
Thanks!

Looks like there is a parsing error shown in this query

[KVS Availability Tool 6.2.0.R2/Diamond - Sabre: Availability/GTC/US-LTR]
Code:

HKG  Hong Kong Intl HK [VHHH]
IST  Istanbul Metro / Ataturk TR = IST SAW [LTBA]
SAT  23 Jul 2011

The aircraft type shows up as a very long string that looks like it contains extra HTML tagging.

As per my thread:

does the KVS tool display allowable routings for Aeroplan award bookings, similar to what it does for AC or other airline revenue bookings?

KVS will validate the MPM for a route or can tell you if a route is a published one (just look up the O-D using availability), but it won't check that your route is in compliance with AE's redemption rules.
