Beginner/Training course for KVS?

Hi,

I really find the KVS Tool really intriguing and I have tried to use it in the past (years ago) and remember having found it really intimidating at times and not having understood at least a quarter of the things it wanted from me or could have given me :-)

I'm now trying to get back in the game a bit, so to speak, I'm flying a lot again, and I wondered: Is there some kind of comprehensive online training course out there, you know, with instruction videos, how-to's, tasks to complete, maybe some one-on-one tutoring if required?

I'm thinking, just like you can do those IT trainings, like "Linux for Beginners" or "Poiwershell for Dummies", where you even learn a few tricks you didn't know about if you are a frequent user - just a generally comprehensive training with cases and scenarios that helps you get proficient fast would be really good.
Ideally, it would start at the lowest level for beginners but advance quickly and allow you to get proficient fast without having to find out everything for yourself (which is fun too, but takes ages)...

Does this exist? I for one would be really interested, I'm sure others would, too.

Thanks!

I could not find anything related, so here is my question:

I just changed the Hard Disk in my computer (cloned the old drive). Now KVS wants a license key. It seems that the system code also has changed.
Why is that? Even Microsoft with their fairly paranoic licensing does not require a new code in such circumstances? Does this mean that at every little upgrade to a system you will need a new code?

This is so weird. I just did the same today and it changed my system code too.

Why is that when everything else has worked just fine?

Certain major changes in the system may cause the System Code to also change, in which case a Replacement Registration Code should be requested via the Registration Wizard.

Thanks for the quick response to the new system code request. ^

Is there a problem with CX and BA award searches now? Even with 7.1.6 it seems not really working. Is it being fixed? Thank you.

Oh?

How come on my 7.1.6 for 1-march hkg-lhr it says (when searching on cx awards)
Data Source Error L3...
MCL_2999_CLS_AUTH_ERROR...
and then says I should contact KVS!!!

When searching on BA oneworld awards
it mentions something to do with Malaga flights!!!

What do I do?

IncyWincy Feb 19, 2013 5:37 am

Can somebody please help me :) I'm looking for some flights and I see a lot of stuff like this:

[KVS Availability Tool 7.1.6/Diamond - SNT: Awards/StarAlliance/JP-ANA-STD]
Code:

DCA  Washington Ronald Reagan National DC US [KDCA]
BKK  Bangkok Metro / Suvarnabhumi Intl TH = BKK DMK [VTBS]
SUN  31 Mar 2013 | 1 Seat

Carrier    Flight  From  Depart    To    Arrive    A/C  St  Availability
---------  ------  ----  --------  ----  --------  ---  --  -------------
SK        926    IAD  17:15    CPH  07:15 +1  343  0  FS/  CS-  YS-
 -> TG    951    CPH  14:25 +1  BKK  06:00 +2  773  0  FS/  CS+  YS-

First leg is not available, but the second leg is available. Does it mean that I have to search for alternative ways to get to CPH to be able to fly TG to BKK in C?

Thanks

FriendlySkies Feb 19, 2013 1:17 pm

You are correct. Since there is no space on the SK n/s, you'd need to find another flight, such as LH through FRA/MUC, to make the flight from CPH.

The [Awards/CX] Engine is currently experiencing intermittent issues -- you may need to retry your query a few times.

What date are you searching for using the [Awards/BA-OneWorld] Engine?

Yes you would have to find an alternative way to get to BKK.

Here are some alternative routes:

[KVS Availability Tool 7.1.6/Diamond - ITA: Awards/AC-StarAlliance/CA]
Code:

IAD  Washington Dulles Intl DC US [KIAD]
BKK  Bangkok Metro / Suvarnabhumi Intl TH = BKK DMK [VTBS]

 -> TG    951    CPH  14:25 +1  BKK  06:00 +2  773  0  CS+

UA        2      IAD  17:05    MUC  07:50 +1  764  0  CS+
 -> LH/CL  2368    MUC  11:25 +1  ZRH  12:25 +1  CR9  0  CS+
 -> TG    971    ZRH  13:30 +1  BKK  05:30 +2  346  0  CS+

I would suggest a routing through a *A hub (MUC) so you can access a shower airside after the TATL flight.

bwiadca Feb 19, 2013 2:24 pm

Thank you both for the suggestions. I've logged in with my AC number and now I see many more options. (new to KVS tool, used it briefly last year to check upgrade availability, never to look for reward flights).

Thank you again :)

Hi KVS,

Having trouble looking up RTW fares. Have tried to use the Fares/DotRes, but then I cannot look up business or first fares. It also does not come up with the LONE either =\

I am simply searching, for example, HKG-LAX, return. I try to put in HKG-HKG but this gives error.

Used to be so much easier....

Thanks
