Seat Maps: we're currently not able to show seat maps for flights departing within the next 24 hours for several airlines: DL, BA, QR , ANA, B6, & JL
Searches currently not working:
  • Upgrades - AY, BA, EK, EY, IB, QR, VS
  • Awards - AY, BA, IB, EY, QR, VS

To search AA upgrades:
  • Use the Award & Upgrade tool
  • Only search for individual segments (set the "Connection Preference" drop-down to "Direct/Non-Stop only"). Flight results that are part of a connection won't show the upgrade version of C or A inventory because AA only files upgrade inventory as individual, not married, segments. (Married segments show revenue inventory instead of upgrade inventory.)
  • To avoid confusion, check the "Exclude Codeshares" box, as AA awards and upgrades are not valid on codeshares.

Seat maps working on UA Polaris 772's

I was able to snag 1A as it had just opened up. The PE and Y seat maps look accurate.

The seat maps partially work on EY. We have an upcoming trip from the US to JNB on EY and the first and business seat maps are displayed and look accurate (at least our seats are accurate) but both flights (A380 and 2-class B789) display an error for economy..

Before I re-subscribe, can anyone confirm whether BA is working properly in Y, particularly in terms of blocked seats next to status customers? I've found EF invaluable over the years for checking and moving myelf around the cabin on non-full flights to maximise the chance of an empty seat next to me and would be gutted to lose this functionality. Cheers!

Just came on here to find this thread. I didn’t even realize the seat maps weren’t working, but two days ago I got 6 Aircraft Change alert emails within one hour, all different flights on UA. None of them were valid (no changes)

Same here. It's often my starting point when I'm making a new reservation to see what the options are. It's also super useful when trying to help friends or family out of an irregular operations mess. Back in December 2022 when Southwest had its meltdown, there was next to nothing available for flights from LA/OC back to the SF Bay Area. Using EF flight availability, I saw 4 seats show up on a SNA-OAK Spirit flight. I grabbed them, and we got out that night. We would have been stuck for days.

AA and BA working for me now

I can access seats maps for both now, and from what I can tell comparing to actual reservations and selected seats and available to "change to" seats are accurate when compared to each individual airline site.

VA is now showing J maps but not Y.

My upcoming flights are all in Y so I can't verify their accuracy without beginning speculative bookings, which is a project for another time.

What does how a website looks like have to do with its functionality, performance and customer service? I run code that uses Fortran 77 because it just works. I could show you hundreds of websites (and millions of corporate intranet pages) that look like this because the job they do is simple. Unless you are a Mac user, appearances means squat for most IT professionals if it works.

If it works well, absolutely nothing. And I will repeat: I love EF and have been using it for years. And no, customer service has nothing to do with the look of a site, but everything to do with how a site interacts and communicates with its customers (direct pay, or ad revenue, you’re still paying).

What I have not seen from EF, though, is any communication from the site operators, other than the occasional banner, or any indication that there are actual people operating it. Take for instance gcmap.com or AV Herald. Also sites that don't have a modern look to them, both excellent and quite functional and I enjoy them both. gcmap.com has frequent featured maps and Simon is quite active on AV Herald. In each of these cases, should there be a technical problem I would expect a level of 'customer service' that I do not expect from EF because EF has never indicated anything of the sort in the past.

Had EF had regular communications to subscribers, a chat function, any kind of interaction with its customers other than automated billing, then I could see why people get upset by the radio silence when the site has issues. But a site that has been stagnant for decades has a bug and people are lamenting the lack of feedback… to the point of issuing a chargeback on a card for $9.99…that makes me bang my head against the wall. I guess Humans are as Humans do, to paraphrase a movie.

Theoretical seat-blocking only operates at T-72, so I won't be able to check this for a couple of weeks, and I'll be in CE anyway (the status blocks are usually fairly apparent though).

One glitch spotted so far is row 1 blocks in CE despite my BAEC number held in EF. However the BA seat map is usable and alerts have restarted. I have reset my subscription to renew, but monthly only until my confidence in EF returns a little

AA maps still not accurate in Economy as far as I can tell. MCE and Preferred seats all show as occupied on EF even when AA seat maps show them as wide open, It looks like only "free" economy seats are accurately displayed on EF.

I am seeing the same (for AA). I emailed EF with a specific flight, and got a boilerplate response saying they know they have issues with seat maps, are are working on it. It was the same email I received when we were getting no maps at all.

AA is still off. Open (paid) seats (via AA.COM) are showing occupied on EF in Y. J looks okay. Totally free seats seem onkay as well.

JL 789 J Cabin showing 2-2 instead of 1-2-1. Sigh.
