Seat Maps: we're currently not able to show seat maps for flights departing within the next 24 hours for several airlines: DL, BA, QR , ANA, B6, & JL
Searches currently not working:
- Upgrades - AY, BA, EK, EY, IB, QR, VS
- Awards - AY, BA, IB, EY, QR, VS
To search AA upgrades:
- Use the Award & Upgrade tool
- Only search for individual segments (set the "Connection Preference" drop-down to "Direct/Non-Stop only"). Flight results that are part of a connection won't show the upgrade version of C or A inventory because AA only files upgrade inventory as individual, not married, segments. (Married segments show revenue inventory instead of upgrade inventory.)
- To avoid confusion, check the "Exclude Codeshares" box, as AA awards and upgrades are not valid on codeshares.

I don't see any option that would unmask a blocked seat from a selected seat. Nonetheless, I've used it myself to snag a better seat when someone else upgrades, cancels, etc, so it's useful, but it's not as valuable as what EF should be doing.
FWIW I am not a computer programmer or coder, I just whipped this up years ago before I knew EF existed, and it still works today because AA isn't a company that changes anything on their website, haha.
Darn, that's what I'm currently checking too, I hoped you had a better solution
. I'm currently often booking last minute intl trips, unfortunately in Y, and the blocked vs taken is super helpful to know if I have the possibility of snagging a good MCE seat. Plus with BA I can sometimes reserve seats that are blocked, but that's a whole other animal that I need EF for.

3.5 days from breaking to putting a up a simple banner stating "they're working on it and will fix ASAP". Now, nearly 3.5 days since the banner went up. It's been a week so much for timely seat and aircraft change alerts

I have been thinking along the same lines. I've done some superficial research into what it would take to get a single seat access license to something like Amadeus (or Sabre or Travelport). From a technical perspective it doesn't look too difficult. But I have no idea how the licensing agreements for this kind of access work. Are people effectively prohibited from using their GDS access to publish the data in a way like EF does? And is full and legal access prohibitively expensive?

NDC vs GDS
I suspect that the gradual move to NDC vs direct GDS will play an ever increasing role in what we see available as consumers, in terms of tools and the capabilities of OLT companies.
TK withdrew from SABRE as part of the launch of their TKCONNECT NDC offering.
For a simple explanation of NDC vs GDS see https://sciative.com/research-articl...hange-the-game
I'm optimistic that there will be more options for corporate and fqtv consumers, when someone builds the appropriate software interface, but the first market will be travel agents obviously - who will eventually have to choose between using their existing GDS as a front end for NDC offerings, or a new piece of software from perhaps an independent vendor.

We are talikng about a very niche product, used by a microscopic portion of the public, communicating to many different systems that are in the process of migrating away from a system based on 1960s technology into a system designed in circa 2010.
Nature abors a vaccum so if there was a reasonable market, someone would likey have presented a newer and better version, I doubt Google Flights would build anything like that, so likely some of the many Airline IT tech savy people on here might take a shot at it and offer something homemade for people to use. Outside of that, I think EF will be put into the 'remember that cool website we used to use?' file.

My last subscription just renewed on 10/16/24. I'm thinking about submitting a billing dispute w/ my credit card.
Only thing is that "C" alerts on AA are still somewhat useful to me.

Thinking of cancelling too but my subscription doesn't renew until January so a pro-rata refund would be nice. But similar to you, they ignored my request.

Absolutely disgraceful how long the Seat Map functionality has been down. I submitted a request for account cancellation and refund and it was refused. I will be lodging a chargeback dispute with my credit card company. Shameful company.

Who knows how to specify point of origin in GDS for availability searches? Of this is possible we might be able to get this done in EF.
For example (and forget for a moment TK is not available at the moment), availability for IST-AMS on TK for same flights will be different for travel originating in IST ans AMS. Hence a query for IST-AMS will likely return wrong result if you are looking to change the return portion of your AMS-IST-AMS.

Correct. I was told they were unable to process a pro-rata refund for the payment I already made for this month but that they would cancel my subscription going forward because "they do not have any resolution for the current issues".
However, I replied and said that in that case I would be contacting my credit card issuer and filing a chargeback for this month's payment as I have paid for a service I am not receiving.
As soon as they saw the word "chargeback" they replied immediately with a full refund of my USD$9.99 for this month. I suggest everyone does the same.
FWIW, it sounds like there is no fix coming any time soon.
