Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

The two of us are on LHR-DOH in July, booked in D (one PNR). Neither have any QR status but both are OneWorld Emerald. MMB shows all middle seats as blocked, phone agents say middle seats are all blocked until check-in. Was at DOH last week on another flight (same PNR), agent at the lounge called many people but all told him the same thing: middle seats can't be assigned until check-in. Odd and frustrating.

Was hoping someone observed and could recount what happened in similar situations in the past.
Four weeks ago I flew on my own on a 777 - seat choice the old layout, QSuite on the day. Although had booked a middle pair seat of the old 2-2-2 design, I was given a solo window seat. A couple in front of me appeared rather unhappy with the change in seat numbers on their boarding pass in comparison with that booked but a QR gate agent reassured. They were seated in a middle pair on the flight.

I suspect it depends on the size of the group if on one PNR.

Flying from ICN to DOH in J on August 25th. Based off my FlightRadar24 stalking, the route is quite often a Qsuite equipped aircraft but the configuration for my flight is the old 2-2-2 layout, so I'm holding out hope that it'll be a Qsuite configuration on the day of. My home base of Kuwait apparently gets Qsuite-equipped aircraft quite a few times a week I've been told, so I may get the chance to experience it for the hour-long hop to Doha soon. Can't wait to see what it's about and to see more of them available soon!

Wow, that's huge! Would they be refitting the 777-200LRs?

Not sure, is the 777-200LR the only aircraft right now that could do this kind of range?
And also at what age does QR retire aircraft?

All 777s are being retrofitted including the LRs. As with all things QR take the "by next year" with a grain of salt.

QR15 (DOH-LHR) to get the first A350-1000 from 24th Feb - https://www.flightglobal.com/news/ar...-route-446042/

Means two Qsuites flights a day to LHR, hopefully heading to the point where all LHR flights are either Qsuites or A380

Routes will be DOH-LHR and an un-named East Coast route. Any guesses as to the East Coast city? Another JFK flight? Hopefully they'll actually release a little award space now.

Any idea when the 2nd 1000 should be delivered/start flying? Hoping my A350-900 JFK flight at the end of march gets up-gauged to a 1000 with q suties.

Don't get your hopes up. The A350 production list (not officiall AFAIK) has no delivery date or first flight date for the next QR A35K. The next A350 to be delivered is apparently a A350-900 which is apparently getting QSuites once it is delivered.

A quick update from the earlier QR Press Unveiling of the A350-1000...the 787s will not be fitted with QSuites due to the narrow fuselage.

However, they will be fitted with full privacy screens, but will supposedly be all rearward facing.

M

I heard AAB say no forward/backwards facing seats, but all seats will be forward. One of the aviation tweeps stated that there will not be forward facing seats--which is not correct.
