Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

More along the lines of if I get the choice between say an A380 and the 773 with QSuites, I'll chose the A380. The QSuite was interesting to try but there do seem to be service challenges.

I feel like the service challenges could probably be due to a poor/less experienced crew? I had no problem with efficiency on my QSuites flight earlier this year - crew answered every request very quickly and did not make any errors in service.

Not sure if it was mentioned earlier, but DOH-BOM sector is now operating QSUITES on 777. My itinerary for later this month was just updated.

dp2585 welcome to the QR forum.
It appears that the 77P (Qsuites) is only allocated to BOM during January and February. The 'ordinary' 777-300 reappears 1 March.
As to why: well QR have to use the aircraft until they can be scheduled fully into their intended destinations. So BOM gets a look at Qsuuites while waiting!

TGflyergirl[/url] has been revised by QF and I wish we had current info. Two of us are booked on a QSuites flight out of LHR in July. When first booked, I called QR and the agent assigned two center rear seats (the pair with the seats touching each other) to us, but there was a delay in ticketing, during which QR cancelled our space. We were rebooked and reticketed, same flight, same date, but now QR refuses to allocate center seats to us. They insist they are held for airport control. Possibly they will be available closer in, possibly only at the airport (but that seems quite odd and very unsatisfying). When I call, the agents can see in the history that we did have those seats, but they all insist they can't be allocated now.

Hi remdk, I'm puzzled by your reply since, as I explained in my post, I had contacted QR and every time I call they insist the center seats cannot be allocated, even for a party of two, except at the airport.

That's what QR has been consistently telling me for the past six weeks or so. As I noted, the same flight was originally booked maybe two months ago, and at that time QR allocated EF seats to us. A delay in ticketing led to QR cancelling our space, which was reinstated and finally ticketed, but by then QR was saying the center seats are not available for booking.

I wonder if the "inconsistency" is due to the route or rev/award ticket.

DOH - ICN

I notice the qsuites are only loaded until end of March. I've booked r18 May on this route, hopefully they will retain the qsuites.

So, unless I am getting it completely wrong, currently a pair of pax could only reserve the middle seats in row 11, as all the other middle seats are reserved in clusters of 4, correct?

I have been on 3 Q Suites flights last year and I have never seen a group of 4 pax doing this shared suite thing. But I have see a lot of couples in the middle ones. So wonder why they wouldn't let you book it that way, is worth calling up.

anabolism I said the only way to get seats in the middle 4 seat pods is to contact QR and request them. I did not say that the request would be granted, just that 'If you don't ask you don't get'.

I had to split my reservation with a companion (she couldn't travel and had to cancel) and interestingly, I'm still able to select any seat as a solo traveler. This is on a revenue ticket JFK-DOH.

Your best bet is to fly the 777 from CDG (morning flight), unless an airplane swap happens you'll get qsuite.
