Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

As to other routes NO ONE KNOWS!

I repeat NO ONE KNOWS!! so do not ask!

I flew the Qsuites today on the DOH-IAD route and I was quite impressed. My first impression though was similar to that of AventutaraAAFlyer, that the cabin looked dark and a bit drab upon entry at boarding (compared to the open A350/A380 cabins). I thought it could have easily been fixed by brightening up the cabin lighting though. I don’t think anyone wants to enter a dark cabin.

But as the flight went on, the seat and the suite grew on me. I flew in 5F, one half of the backward facing double bed seats, but with a solo traveler divider separating me from 5E. I had hoped to book one of window seats, but this flight was full in J and I took the only one that was available. The bed was very comfortable and there is noticeably more space than on the A350 seats. With the lights on, the enclosed space feels very much like your own space. Privacy usually is not the biggest concern for me and I worried that the doors would make me feel claustrophobic, but I realized that it didn’t. I found the storage (as discussed a bit here already) to be a bit iffy though. I missed the shoe storage from the A350. The storage under the side seating space is nice for things like phones and cables and small items, but large items have less flexibility. I wished there was one more bin.

On the service, I did notice some changes. I didn’t receive the personal greeting that I have always received on my flight today (recognizing my status usually and and some pleasantries), which I thought was strange. Food service was nice, but it did appear that the opening and closing of the doors and the limited entry space into the suite impeded the FA’s movement a bit.

Overall though, I really enjoyed the flight. I managed to take some shots on my DSLR. I actually have not seen very many non-iPhone shots of the Qsuite seats taken by passengers on social media (or those beyond the ones released by Qatar). Hopefully this provides somewhat of a better perspective. The seats look gorgeous, don’t they ?

Hi All

For those looking at DOH-CDG, you will be disappointed as QR had removed 777 with Qsuites except for Tuesday and Wednesday flights.
I had booked this leg since last year for my May trip and even assigned my partner and I at the window seats (rear facing). QR had this habit that whenever they changed their planes, they will not inform the passengers. The change of plans happened in Jan 2018. They had switched to A380 instead. That really screw up my flight schedule.

Cheers

Great photos! What kind of camera and lens setup are you using?

Thanks iluvdoco. I used a Canon 5D Mark III with a EF 16-35mm f/2.8L lens. The wide angle lens was just right for this kind of setting.

This can't be universally true, as there are many reports of parties of two being able to book center seats, even online via MMB (as well as via phone). I myself was able to book two center seats for a party of two via the QR call center, but then the flight was inadvertently dropped from the record by a delay in ticketing, and since getting it back I've been repeatedly told that the center seats were blocked for airport assignment only. QR sales office in DOH, QR lounge elite agent, QR phone agents, and QR staff at other airports, have all said "blocked for airport assignment only." The DOH lounge elite desk agent called multiple people within QR and all said the same thing. No one ever said "Unavailable for parties of two until airport."

I observe from the reports here that most of the success reports of booking center seats with a party of two were for non-LHR routes, and the reports of success on that route were for tickets issued by QR (I have an award booking from AA).

Just had a friend tell me he has just booked seats for next year on QR on the DOH-MAD sector and the seatmap is showing Qsuites on the A350. Just thought that might be of interest ?

I need your expert opinion... I have the option to choose the 77W with QSuites or the A380 for a daytime flight LHR-DOH next week. Trying to find the pros of each option:

QSuites
+ Novelty of the product
+ Privacy
(+ I heard the rumour that QSuites tend to get better/more experienced crews but this is anecdotal)

A380
+ Lounge/bar
+ Better quality of air
+ Quieter aircraft

I am really torn... I've flown the A380 several times and love it, particularly for a daytime flight as I can go to the lounge to have a few drinks and stretch my legs (so that for me is a big plus). If this was a nighttime flight I'd have no doubt and go for QSuites, as I can see the value of the enclosed suite for sleeping. But for this particular itinerary I am not so sure.

Sadly I am then heading somewhere completely different and returning on another carrier, otherwise I would have gone for one each way!

So, if any frequent flyer has an opinion on this first-world dilemma I'd be very grateful for your input (as it seems I cannot make the decision on my own!).

I do not believe the A380 has better air quality than the 777. The B787 and the A350 have higher humidity and higher air pressure (lower cabin altitude) than older planes such as the 777 and A380. The A380 does counteract some turbulence, so may be a smoother ride. But not better air quality.

does the 787 pale much less in comparison to these other two?

Daytime flight? I’d select the a380. Nothing beats the novelty of a bar in the air. Besides, there are less than a dozen a380s in the fleet so it is a more novel experience than the squires which will be put into most of the wide body fleet over the next couple years.

Thank you both. I've flown the A380 several times, so the QSuites would be the novelty factor. However, I do like the ability to stretch my legs in the lounge on a day flight, hence my indecision...!

A380 for day flight.
You may try the qsuite later, ideally on a long night flight on A350..

Just booked flights for Feb 2019 (the PCDISCOUNT promo worked by the way). Anyway, one of the flights is QR007 into LHR inc. Qsuites & I'm able to choose any seat including centre pairings.

The air quality is way better at the A380, it's even a much more silent Airplane than the 777.
The A380 is also a much younger Airplane-model, it was first build 2005. The 777 was first build 1994.
You should try to fly the A380 and you will notice the silence and the better air very fast.
