Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Probably drop flights to DOH and just let QR operate the route instead.

The upper deck of an A380 is actually wider than the the cabin of the A350. The problem is however that while the cabin floor is over 5.8 meters wide, the cabin width considerably narrows, which would make it difficult to fit in these "cubicles".

Travelling solo I probably wouldn't want to get stuck in one of those middle-seats (?)

It looks pretty nice, especially how they can let up to 4 people share a 'space' without causing too much commotion throughout the rest of the cabin.

The only things I see are that the entry/exit may be difficult for some, and does that side 'table' raise up to become the 2nd armrest? If not, is there a 2nd armrest?

Cut costs to compensate for lower business pax revenue.

From what I am viewing there seems to be a lack of arm rests on the seats. On the center seats I see none and only one on the outboard side of the window seats. Could that be correct ? I can only imagine that makes sitting and reading for example very uncomfortable.

And what BA will do...[/QUOTE]

It seems pretty amazing.

What I do also find amazing is that QR seems to bet heavily on family / couples traveling together. I think the 4-somes are very innovative. It does seem a bit narrow but we will see how that works out in practice. Would not want to be in a middle seat as a solo traveler*.

I have 4 A350 flights in October. Fingers crossed that at least one will have the new seat. Although QR's reputation for last minute aircraft swaps is legendary.

I do expect a lot of people being p'd off even more when that happens now. For that reason alone it might make a lot of business sense to expedite the retrofit.

* Unless paired with a very good looking woman / supermodel. I could live with that.

It's only the paired (inner) middle seats that you'd want to avoid, i.e. every other row.

The non-paired middle seats look ok for privacy, although the window seats will naturally be preferable.
