Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Well it was all a bit of a disappointing shambles really! What a shame because this was my first QR journey (ARN - DOH - SIN, SIN - DOH - FRA). The initial B787 and A350 flights were great and I thought that the herringbone seats were very comfortable, the staff were also almost over attentive!
But then I flew the last leg DOH - FRA (A7-BER)
I am afraid that it didn't go well right from the start, my inbound from SIN spent 20 minutes circling the Gulf before landing and then we went to a bus stand. With only 10 minutes before boarding commenced I went straight to the gate. The gate agent checked my boarding pass then looked at me and said "you look like that movie star.... you know.... Hagrid!".... as I said things didn't start well!
Boarding was ok and swift. Champagne tasty. It was Qsuites (2B), but when I unpacked my computer would not fit into the bin next to me. What an awful waste of space when a small change would make it work. I left my computer in my bag for take off. Once in the air the stewardess unlocked the sliding door to the suite, because of the angle of climb it immediately slid shut and I wanted it open.... it was ok once we leveled off, but the designers should have thought of that. I looked around wanting to be impressed, but what I saw was a dark and drab cupboard that I seemed to have entered. To me it was made worse if the door was closed. Part of the seat obscured my nearest window quite unnecessarily and the only way to use the table was to have it fully extended with the flap down.... a smaller table that could be adjusted would have been better.
Then they came to take my meal order. The food was great as was the wine, but the food was served with no table cloth or napkin, I had to ask for a napkin and the crew just looked blankly at me then went and fetched one... no "oops I forgot" or anything. They carefully noted down on their sheet that I wanted to be woken with a continental breakfast 1 hour before landing.... The pilot woke me with his "starting our descent" call, so I went to the kitchen and asked if I could have some orange juice and fruit... "we are about to land" they said... "yes I know, what happened to my wake up call and breakfast"? Another blank look, no apology but a paper cup of OJ and bowl of fruit handed out. The bowl was still on my table as we landed to I kept my hand on it to stop it from flying as the brakes came on.
Now I know that I was just plain unlucky with the crew and that this sort of thing can happen particularly when they are in a new cabin setup. What got me though there was absolutely no acknowledgement of their failings, even when I pointed them out. I also realise that I should not let the crew colour my views of the hard product. Even so, I still concluded that the Qsuites are a bit of a disappointment and I would prefer the herringbone setup.
I apologise for the negativity, I promise I am not normally like this!

I am about to be on my first Qsuite flight tomorrow. Which will be the best seat to get a clean look at those GE90 engines?
I am currently in 3A but suspect it's too far forward, right?

Looks like my CMB-DOH (QR669) flight in a few hours got swapped close in to a Q Suites 77W bird.
I was originally in 6A and my seat disappeared as they no longer had 6A. Looking at the seat map it looks like a QSuites configuration.
ETA: flew in qsuites wonderful product and definitely an unexpected surprise

I understand how it feels wanting to try Qsuite. Had a recent experience on it, which was very nice due to the improved privacy and I could have undiaturbed sleep. But on the down side, the cabin and the seats looked cramped. Overall it is not a big loss for not flying Qsuite, as compared to J seats on 359/380/787.

Answering my own q here as I’m now on board. It’s available, $10 for the whole flight. Planes change etc. but hoping this is somewhat regular.

On a CDG-DOH-CDG I was supposed to get Q suite on both legs when I booked long ago. Then it got subbed by A350/A380, not too bad. And now my return flight tmr is replaced by the old 77W. I know by experience that this happens a lot with QR, but disappointed nonetheless. BTW, wifey and me are not even seated together... and no empty seats at checkin (seq 35)

I had QSuites yesterday from LHR to Doha (the 8am departure QR006) - great product, but crew was bit lazy - likely due to a load of 9 in J and 27 in Y
Crew said that many of the LHR to DOH flights are now very empty - guess also linked to Ramadan. Note that Doha airport (incl. lounges) is currently 'dry' given that reason.
To my surprise also Qsuites from Doha to Bengalore on QR572 - with excellent crew e.g. permanent Champagne refill

Hi All - I Noticed on flightradar24.com, they show a 77W on June 2 and June 3 for the LAX - DOH route, then it reverts back to the 77L. Do you think they might be testing/running the QSuite for this? I guess we will know for sure if the aircraft tag matches the QSuite wiki info. If so.. dang. Will miss the QSuite by a couple days!
