Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

QSuites from Houston

Anybody know how to make sure you are getting a QSuite out of I AH and not the old business seat?
I'm going to be flying to BKK 12/27.
I was reading that the QSuite equipped planes were going to be every other day.
I've checked Seatguru. No matter the day they only show the old layout.
I'm paying full price for this, so I would like to make sure I'm getting the seat type I want.
For the same price almost I could get a Prestige Suite out of LA on Korean Air and be sure its the one I want. But I'd prefer A QSuites on Qatar.
Help?

Every site I checked shows the old 777-200LR with 2-2-2 seating. But please remember it is QR and ya never know what you are going to be flying until the plane shows up.If you are traveling alone and want privacy go with a Korean Air window seat and go with QR if you really enjoy the soft product.

If you want to remove most of the risk of equipment change, go with KE.

I remain mystified by the Q suite reservation system. Booked an October QR16 flight some weeks ago and not able to touch the quad seats as they were all blocked as per normal. Then out of the blue this afternoon everything opens up on a totally empty flight. Same with the return QR5 3 weeks later - again no other seats reserved. If this is a temporary glitch suggest you fill your boots quick ! BTW it is a 2 person reservation.

I think it is some version of seat management system. But given QR's IT who knows.

Do you have such gray alert below the seat map on the qr site? I clicked on the the link to see their Qsuite seat selection faq which opened up the reservation of the quads for me, which before were locked. It's a revenue ticket, booking for 2pax

But it is likely to change again several times before October

Till day before yesterday the seat map for my upcoming flight SIN-DOH (QR 945) on June 20th was showing up as the standard configuration of the A350-900 in J. I checked it online today and the seat map has switched to the Qsuites!! The aircraft is still showing as the A350-900. Lucky me - I now get to fly SIN-DOH-JFK all the way in Qsuites

26% of 77W have Q Suites (11/44)
23% of all A350s (including the sole A350-1000) have the Q Suites (6/26) *not including the two LATAM A359s
11% of all 77L have Q Suites (1/9)

Hmm, I’m not seeing QSuites on any of the SIN-DOH flights in July (or in June, for that matter). Am I missing something?

i think it was just luck that they did an aircraft change. I was told at the check-in counter that the route will not be normally served by the Qsuites.
