Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Just seen that my LHR-DOH (359) seat map has changed to Q suites, happy days!
I am travelling with my 70 year old mother, and although I do not want to share a bed with her, I would like to be close, and thus undecided which centre pair to get. Can the closer beds be kept as separate beds/are the ones further away from each other that far away as to hinder conversation etc?
The centre seats are also blocked at the moment, will QR put us in those if I phone them to request it?
Finally, the seat map is pretty much empty so given a choice of any (centre) row, is there any advantage to any of them?
Thanks!

Got email from Qatar yesterday and noticed my seat assignment has changed on my DOH-BKK and BKK-DOH flights. The plane is a 773 and the seat map shows Q Suites on both directions!
I'm traveling alone and now I'm assigned to 1K and 2J. Are there any reasons to change the seats? The outbound flight is at the end of this month and the inbound in the middle of July.

Having had flights to both SYD and HKG change to Qsuites in the last 48 hours I'm certainly not complaining, but seems like there needs to be a pretty large ramp up in deliveries of Qsuites-equipped aircraft for QR to actually be able to operate Qsuites on all of these routes!

Personally, I like the 'proper' window seats with the seat closest to the window that face rearwards best, so I'd keep 1K but be tempted to try to switch 2J to one of 1K/3K/5K etc. Still not a bad seat, though!
Depending on exact date, also possible I will be on your outbound flight.

It's also worth noting that read-facing seats provide slightly more natural sleep conditions. Planes cruise in a nose up attitude of 2-4 degrees. So if you're facing forward, your head is slightly below your feet in a lie-flat position.

Had the Q suites on QR7 DOH-LHR earlier this week. Although I like the seat has anyone else found that due to the suite doors being closed the crew tend to be less proactive in service. This was the first QR flight I had where I found that the crew tended to be hiding. Normally I have found them to be actively walking the cabin checking if anyone needed anything. This flight they made a couple of passes but that was it.

He mentioned that plans to introduce Qsuites have been on and off.
He stated that he was not aware of definite plans to introduce them in october (I asked him as it had been mentioned here previously).
I now see the Qsuites on EFfrom 1 October and he might simply not have been officially notified. But a lot of things can change with QR till october.
