Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg
Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html
From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I see nothing wrong with traveling in business class (or any cabin) with a well behaved toddler. I do, however, see a real problem traveling in any cabin with a poorly behaved child of any age. An airplane cabin is a public space, and an enclosed and tightly packed one, at that. Anyone traveling with a child has a responsibility to everyone else to ensure some reasonable level of decorum.
Yes, I agree, that´s why it is real fun for us as family, to travel ;-)
But I want to add that "adult travelers do have the same responsibility for everyone to ensure ..." ;-)

We have just had some minor rescheduling for our LGW-DOH-CPT in November. On checking the booking, the DOH-CPT (both ways) is showing A350-1000 with seat selection in Business reflecting that.
I hope this is not a spoof, as we’re actually quite excited about the prospect ... especially as we’re usually in J on BA or AA

When I book flights explicitly because of Qsuite (as it is the most convenient when i travel with my wife and our daughter due to the "double bed" - before somebody says anything against travelling in business class with a toddler - we did this now 3 times with her and she did not "disturb" one passenger...) and the seats assigned at time of booking / paying are the Qsuite double bed seats, then I am not "more aware of", I am quite pissed off (sorry for the wording) when the aircraft gets changed and QR does not value it important enough, to at least inform me, the customer, about the change....this happened now in 4 or 5 out of my 6 last flights - and now again for my upcoming QR833 flight in September...
When EK swapped us from an A380 flat bed window seat to a slightly sloped middle seat of 3 on the EK 777, that makes you really p****d off!!! I know since it happened to me a long while ago.

Pleasantly surprised to see both South African legs of my December JFK-DOH-JNB;CPT-DOH-JFK itinerary change to Q Suites in the last few days. DOH-JNB changed from regular 359 to Q Suite equipped 359 and CPT-DOH went from regular 359 to 350-1000. We're pretty far out, but sure do hope it sticks.

One final tip, don’t get carried away trying out too many dishes at Doha airport. I did and I could then not finish my delicious hot fish biriany on the way back to LHR.
Ps their fruit dishes are superb. Definitely better than BA.
I still prefer direct flights with BA because of longer sleep and arriving refreshed, but wouldn’t hesitate to fly Qatar again if we needed the tier points or the flights were cheaper than BA.
Enjoy your trip.

But I do hope you get a QSuites experience, not least so that you can report back on the BA board

Thanks to both BA Forum ‘familiars’
Variability noted. We always set our expectations low, so if the -1000/Q-suites actually happens, we will be thrilled. If not, it will still be an interesting change from BA/AA long-haul. A flat bed is my prime concern on any flight over 3 hours!!
Trip Report guaranteed, of course, but I have an IAD and an MLA to do before then. It’s a hard life being retired!

Defective Suite. Wife and I flew the late flight JFK-DOH Wednesday night. (Currently in the Al Safwa lounge now via paid access. Well worth it due to long layover.) Anyway, my wife's seat didn't work. Entertainment was fine, but none of the seat movement controls worked. She didnt realize until after take off. They were able to manually recline it slightly-but never into a sleep position. This is one of four segments. But certainly an important time to be able to sleep. Paid tickets as well. I am going to contact Qatar. What do you think is reasonable-assuming no other issues-and we dont expect any? We don't fly them much so miles or credit won't be very helpful. The crew did make a report of the issue about the seat.

I was debating but am going to try. Our second flight Doh-Mle has an equipment change last minute. No q suites. People were getting new seat assignments etc. so my wife was 0 for 2. I know she wasn’t guaranteed any seat type. But she should have a seat that works.

I've also gotten compensation from either airline for various smaller issues. I have no experience yet with QR complaints though...
Either way you should file a complaint, as (1) you can only gain compensation (probably in miles), you cant lose, you might lose the few minutes it takes to file that complaint...; and (2) the only way to help ensure that you and other customers don't get stuck with a non functioning seat in the future is by telling the airline...

A non functional seat usually nets you a good amount of compensation, I searched a few old posts about complaints on BA/CX a while back and there were people getting large amounts of miles for such issues (I recall it being F class instead of J class though).
