Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

As has been mentioned a number of times, if you are an Expert Flyer subscriber, you can create an "Aircraft Change" alert for your QR flight. If the flight switches from Qsuite to non-Qsuite or vice-versa, EF will alert you. You don't need to keep checking yourself, EF does that automatically. Don't forget to reset the alert every time it triggers, as QR is known for multiple aircraft configuration changes.

Sigh. Hope for a change or retrofit of the last couple 77L’s.
Sorry to hear about the swap - I know that 2-2-2 config isn't ideal for many pax but I do find that the older seats are no less comfortable than the Qsuites or A350's ..
in fact they may be a tad more comfy as the Qsuites do take up a lot more space in the cabin thru reducing seat space & elbow room etc. (at least it does for me ... YMMV)
However, the service in the air should be flawless & meals awesome so do enjoy your flight!

I would, however, take the tpg post with a grain of salt since as we all know, QR is notorious for equipment change.

Well, according to the Wiki there are still 2 77L's yet to be re-furbished so I guess that's where they are flying to (ATL)

Don't want to ruin the party but on my last QR flights back in March, QR changed my A359 on MLE-DOH three times (from Q to nonQ and back to Q) within the last three days before departure. As I was travelling with child and required a bassinet seat, this was a heck of many calls to different QR offices/call centres to get my relevant bassinet seats reorganised as this isn't done automatically by QR's system in case of a/c swaps...

Just booked my my first Qatar flights on a LAX-DOH-JNB route on the outbound and CPT-DOH-LAX on the inbound all in J for my wife and I. The LAX-DOH and DOH-LAX showed QSuites and I was able to pick any seat in the entire cabin.

Now I just need the Discover Doha hotel offer to be extended into 2020 as I deliberately booked a longer connection in Doha on the outbound specifically to take a looksee as I’ve never been to the Middle East before. The only slight downer is that the connection on the return flight comes in at an overnight 7hrs and 55 min connection, so no Qatar provided hotel. Still, I get to experience the lounge, freshen up with a shower, take a look around the airport (aviation geek) and maybe find a quiet spot to grab a quick nap before the LAX flight.

Hey, I am in a very similar situation as you. Booked my first journey with Qatar from LAX to SIN and back with all 4 legs offering Q suite. I also opted for a longer layover originally thinking I could utilize the discover Qatar rates until I found out that it's only valid for this year for now.

Hoping they don't change the Q suite products on the LA sectors and they extend the program. I would not be bummed if the Singapore flights went non Q as the alternative product looks great as well.

What a downgrade and disappointment my flight was from ORD-DOH-INDIA then INDIA-DOH-IAH. All sectors we’re suppose to be Qsuites and they pulled all except the ORD-DOH. The rest was the old J. What a downgrade. They also literally swapped out the DOH-IAH out last minute to the old J. Was really hard going from gorgeous Qsuites to a shabby 2x2x2.

When you say new planes with QSuite you mean A350-1000s yeah ?

A350-1000s and the last A350-900 which should be delivered this month. And then the 787-9s (starting Q4 2019) and 777x in a couple of years.

Does anybody know when the ICN route was changed? It was announced as the first Q-Suite route in Asia but seems to be only 2-2-2 now.

An upcoming DOH-ARN has changed to QSuites (at some point recently) which is a nice surprise for me!

The beginning of July, I think. It comes and goes on that route over the last 12 months.

I did SEA-LAX-DOH-CPT in May. My tactic on the return leg (which worked pretty well to temper the jetlag) was to nap on the CPT-DOH leg and then stay awake during the DOH layover by means of a shower, a meal, a walk and several cups of coffee. Then once onboard DOH-LAX, I had breakfast immediately and went to sleep for about six hours.
