Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Flying from CPH to HKG on 3/9 and it seems I have just lost out on Qsuite roulette.
Of the 2 routes that day (162 & 818 / 164 & 816) I believe that 3 of flights are 'usually' Qsuites. Unfortunately it seems the DOH - HKG legs have both changed to the old 2-2 layout and the 162 has changed to a 359.
Appreciate that this happens often, but the aircraft change from 777 to 359 does seem odd to me - anyone know if is this because of other Qsuite route changes or just bad luck?
Edit: As a side note, I've just checked EF where I had/have aircraft change alerts set up for the 816/818 but didn't receive an email. I only noticed the above changes when I just logged in to modify my bookings on QR. Clicking on the 'quick check' magnifying glass on the EF alerts page also says that no aircraft change has been detected. Is there a lag in this updating or have I set it up incorrectly?

Between QR web site and an EF query or an EF alert? An EF query should always show the same information as the QR manage my booking. An EF alert will be delayed because they are not real-time but rather periodic checks.

Good point and clarification. I have one experience when there was a discrepancy on an EF query. Maybe it was just being changed as I was checking and I obviously wasn't clicking the two websites simultaneously.

QR817 on 10/9 appears to have lost it's QSuite - apologies I know this has prob been asked before, but do QR have any history of swapping a flight back to QSuite after the seat map changes to 2-2-2?
What a first world problem to be worrying about!

Yes, very much so. Hence my advice (posted often in this thread) to set an EF Equipment Change alert, and reset it each time it fires.

Obviously it's not unique to QR (until recently QF had an A330 with the dreaded Skybed II config still, so that was always a worry, and I did get stuck on it at least once), and it's not the end of the world, but if you're looking for a specific product, it's enough to make some think again I'd have thought, especially if QR means going slightly out of the way (HKG-DOH-LHR on QR vs HKG-LHR direct on CX, as an example).

Unfortunately I cannot confirm any "swapping back", at least I did not experince any. But, I got a lot of swapping from Qsuite to non Qsuite this year - almost 2/3 of my "Qsuite" flights on advertised Qsuite routes (mainly MUC - DOH - MUC)

Thanks, I'm not holding out much hope! The flight was still selling as Qsuite until today, now there's no mention of it, so I assume it's a distant memory. Oh well 😔

Remember all, if your qsuite flight gets swapped out to a non-qsuite flight and another flight with qsuites are available within a day of your original flight, you can call QR customer service and they should be able to change you to the qsuite flight once for free. (I’ve done this twice) Although, if your newly changed qsuite flight changes to a non-qsuite config, you’re SOL.

There are a number of reports of this in this thread. Earlier this year, I had one flight that switched back and forth between Qsuite and non-Qsuite over and over. When checking in for the first flight (to DOH) I was able to get BPs for the connecting flight from DOH and it showed Qsuite (agent even remarked on it) but by the time we got to DOH it had changed again to non-Qsuite.
