Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?

I flew DOH > BLR in April and had QSuites both ways. I’m booked again next month and have already selected my rear window QSuite both ways.

Hopefully they stay that way, but, for only 4 hours I can live with any seat.

I'm always overheated when flying in center seats on QR A350s, Qsuite or not, but nice and comfy on 777 center seats, since I can open my air nozzle (and my spouse's if I need it, which I haven't).
We were indeed in the middle quad in a 350 1000. I would rather have overhead bins and a nozzle!
Still day flight for the return and so I just have to remember I have the kids with me and take it easy on the champagne, red wine and brandy...

Any Idea if we are likely to see the Q suites at London Gatwick anytime soon? Seen that QR 328 is a 777-300, could they be using a refitted air frame?

Good luck! We’re on the 328 in November, and it’s currently a 787.

777-300, 1EF or 11EF noisy?

I'm about to experience Qsuites for the first time. ORD-DOH-BKK and back. 3 of 4 legs are currently scheduled to be Qsuites on 777-300, though I know that can change.

I usually prefer to sit on the ends of the J cabin (front or back), unless there's a good reason otherwise. Reports on blogs and such are somewhat contradictory about the 777-300 cabin. For couples, is there a reason not to pick 1EF or 11EF? One report says 11EF is quiet (but I do understand the risk of Y basinet) with little foot traffic. Will we hear galley noise in 1EF?

Also, for one of the legs, if we pick window seats instead of the couples set, do the seats on the window have the same amount of person space and storage? Again, I've read opposite things in trip reports.

Thanks for your help. Really appreciate it.

Flew MUC-DOH-PVG and back with my Mum in June, three of the legs in Qsuite and one old 777.

Qsuites are obviously amazing, but I was really surprised by how good the old 777 was too (my only previous J experience was SQ - ‘new’ A380 and old a330). WAY nicer than it looks in photos, and sooo much room.

Qsuites are definitely better if traveling alone, when you expect to sleep a lot, or presumably traveling with a gf/bf. But honestly for a <5 hour day flight with non-romantic partner I might actually prefer the old style...

Flying FRA-DOH-KTM then CMB-DOH-MUC in J in October with my girlfriend on A380, A330, 787 and (currently haha) Qsuites 777 - looking forward to comparing them all, and trying the double bed version of 2 person Qsuites!

I doubt you would be bothered by galley noise, as QR FAs tend to be very good about it. However, be aware that on a 773, there are no center bins above row 1. For this reason, I always pick 3EF.

I'm looking for flights to CPT late January for Englands ODI cricket series. I see there are some good deals from OSL in J, with short stopovers in DOH and nice departure / arrival times at either end.

It appears that CPT is due to get the A350-1000 with Qsuites from mid November, so a couple of questions:
  1. how reliable are the QR roll out programme dates for the 1000 variant?
  2. why would they fly the 1000 to CPT when they only fly the 900 to JNB (which you would have thought was more of a mass market destination)?

Agent69 ... yes, we’re scheduled 350-1000, DOH-CPT on 19 Nov. Not holding my breath, of course, but will be v. happy if it happens.

As to your point 2., perhaps nicer people go to CPT?
Or, more sensibly, higher traffic loads for the Cape’s summer holiday season?

Problem I found on Q Suites flights (350-1000) is that the cabin is full of families with kids (and some young and not well behaved). The quad Q Suite is very attractive to families. Both IAH-DOH and back with full of families. It's really making re thinking using Qatar again (well I have a trip in Dec already booked to CPT), but if you don't want to hear screaming kids, fare warning about the Q Suites.

My guess for (1) is "not much," meaning there's a good likelihood of delays. For (2), QR seems to shift Qsuite equipment around on different routes, perhaps testing to see if it makes a difference in load factors, or perhaps they want to fly new planes to less crucial destinations initially, or perhaps the capacities are different and they are better matching capacities to expected loads, or just to see if there are problems with certain equipment on certain routes. We've been told (upthread) that Qsuite planes are heavier, so that could warrant some extra testing or caution in some routes.

My last two paid QR first class flights were both problematic due to kids screaming, yelling, running up and down the aisles, etc. One flight a small child screamed the entire flight, constantly, while another kid (same family) ran up and down the aisles. FA said she asked the women to take the screaming kid to the "social area" but the women refused. So it's not limited to Qsuite.

Had two Q-Suite segments yesterday. All in all, I'm impressed by the design and privacy. However, in terms of space it could be better. Storage was ok, especially on the 777-300, as the side "bins" are bigger than the ones in the 350-900. When it comes to sleeping/full flat position, there is one issue: Lying on the back I can not bend my knees enough, as I'm then always "crashing" into the bottom of the tray table. I found that quite annoying. Another issue: the door in the 350-900 is really narrow, flight attendants need to be really flexible in order to balance the service tray, setting up the table for you and at the same time not occupy the quite narrow aisle.
For me personally, the QSuite is an absolutely fantastic product which I love to fly. However, I will not pay more for it and I won't position just for getting QSuites (which may be changed then anyway ). That does not mean that the QSuite is bad, it just shows how good the "old" business class seats are (especially B787, A350 non Q, A380), including the old 777 seats, which I absolutely love in terms of space.

Does the narrower door also mean that the seat is also shorter, and the smaller bin mean the seat is narrower ?
Do both window and middle seats have this problem on the A350-900?
Thanks

I did not measure, but I guess and I'm pretty sure both answers are no. I guess the bin is smaller, so the seat can be the same size/width as known in the 777.
