Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

As to other routes NO ONE KNOWS!

I agree. I enjoy the A350 business class a lot. Airy cabin, lots of personal space, very thoughtfully designed. It's an excellent business class in its own right.

I would take the 380 J cabin over Q suites anyday!! So spacious and I love the window seats. Spent a lot of the flight in the bar as it was a day time flight. The views out the window mixed with lovely conversation/ exceptional service from the crew made for a private jet experience .

.
Yeah, I just spoke to someone I know at Qatar, and he said it was an ad hoc change. I can ask him about how they flew a Dreamliner back! He also confirmed that my dad, who is flying from ORD on the 23rd, will have QSuites for ORD DOH. Let's see if that is true!

I had to change an upcoming JFK-DOH flight from QR704 to QR702 to fit our schedule better. Even though the seats were blocked online, I called customer support and they were able to unblock the middle seats. The first agent said it's under airport control. I called back again and the second agent was able to change it easily. I also mentioned to the agent that we are flying with a 2 year old who can't be seated alone. The agent didn't ask anything and assigned the seats. Wanted to share my experience. Thanks to this community, I've learned so much!

I have found that it also helps to call the Doha Reservation Contact Centre +974 4023 0000 for best results. Apparently there is a flag they have to check in your reservation that allows multiple passengers in the same PNR to select blocked middle seats via the Manage Reservation on the QR website. This is especially true if the reservation or equipment had been changed from non-QSuite to Qsuite capable/planned aircraft. Also works for tickets issued by other airlines (just make sure you have the QR PNR when calling). Once they flip the flag I have been able to change to any Qsuite restricted seat via the website with ease.

If you read through the hundreds of posts here on exactly this issue, you'll find that there is no solution that always works. Sometimes, calling any QR office works, sometimes not. Sometimes calling Doha works, sometimes not. Sometimes the QR web site lets you assign seats, sometimes not. Sometimes having a QR ticket works, sometimes not. Sometimes being on one route works while another doesn't. Sometimes blocked center seats open up within a few weeks of flight, sometimes way ahead, sometimes they go blocked again.

In my own case, as I've posted, I've booked QR8 LHR-DOH with Q Suites on multiple itineraries. Sometimes it's been trivially easy to assign EF seats with two of us in the PNR. Sometimes nothing worked. One itinerary, no call center could do it, and over a period of a few months I stopped in at QR agents in Doha and other airports, and at the QR F lounge in Doha. At the DOH F lounge, an agent spent 45 minutes calling people in various departments, but no one was able to assign us EF seats. So, while some techniques sometimes work, there does not appear to be any guaranteed solution, at least as it appears now.

Hey guys just a quick question if anyone knows I'm trying to book the Qsuite from DoH to LHR but not finding anything in February 2019 with airmiles.. are they blocking Qsuite aircrafts? It only shows a380 and 777 older version on the QR5
I have searched Asia miles and Japan airlines and British Airways websites all come out the same

Booking EF seats with separate PNRs

Hello,

I've been reading this thread but couldn't find reference to this. I'll be traveling with my girlfriend but we'll be on separate PNRs (different return dates). Will we be able to get assignment to the EF (couple / double bed) QSuites? How do we do that?

Thanks!

Call in to Qatar and request it. Potentially multiple times.

Agreed, this would be the easiest way to overcome it. Though despite that, 'easiest' is a relative term and it may not be as easy if you get a clueless agent.

No doubt. Which is where the 'multiple times' part comes in.

Is the list of regos in the wiki still the only current 77W with QSuites?
