Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

Curious when Qatar will update flight schedule for March 2019 and beyond.

I got a J DOH-HKG seat for next July 2019 trip and currently it's 77W with old J seats but this October, they will deploy new Qsuites for this route (QR#818). I assume they are likely to keep new Qsuites beyond current schedule (October-March 2019).

Guess I’ll start calling Qatar and see what they say!! Wish me luck!! Any issue with 1K being close to the Galley??
UPDATE! just went on to Desktop site to discover all middle seats unlocked!! Grabbed us 3E&F 👍
Pretty chuffed it worked out so easy.

Very excited, my flight DOH to LHR on A350 next year has just changed to QSuites! I have chosen 3E&F as a couple, I assume that this cannot be improved upon?

We are finally trying our first q suite on the 77w (cbr). At the risk of sounding very unromantic, we are not interested in the EF pair so are aiming for two windows. However rather than two ‘proper’ windows, I’m currently thinking of successive a/b or j/k seats. I have two questions:

- are the b/j seats much less good than the a/k ones, ie am I wrong to want to keep us in consecutive rows?

- assuming the answer to q1 is no, is there a preference in doing a infront of b or b in front of a in terms of being able to occasionally saying hello to each other/ catching up?

thanks!!

Hi Orbitmic. I just completed a 3EF trip on A350 from CDG. They a re a bit less spacious than on the 77W, but great nonetheless.
You get plenty of advice in this thread. let me add my own.

- a/b and j/k are ALL window seats. To me, the difference is that in b you sit next to the suite wall and in a you sit next to the fuselage wall which I tend to slightly prefer.

- This is a real suite and it is hard to communicate with another seat. Then you have to stand up anyway. It is easier to stand up, stay in your suite and talk between 3A and 4B, than 3A and 2B because the seat itself makes it further (hard to explain). But I assume that you will be polite in trying to avoid disturbing other pax

- You might be a huge fan of windows. But I strongly advise you to consider E&F unless you are travelling with a work companion and don't wish to interact much. These are real suites with doors mostly closed. With my wife, we love to have this common space; it is quite huge. The only drawback is that the screens are huge (and excellent quality with a very fast system) and without separation between the two seats, you are distracted by the movie just next to your screen. A major benefit for me is the common space of the two beds (it's not a double bed because the legs are separated). I sleep on the side and the seat is a bit too constricted from foot to knee. But with the two beds next to each other, I have plenty of space.to turn my knee or my .... Just don't forget to ask for an extra duvet to use as mattress.

- And the usual word of caution. You are never assured to have the Qsuites due to ac substitution.
BTW: On my two flights this week I had an excellent Cap de Mourlin 2004, one of my preferred Saint Emilion.

Thanks brunos, always lovely to see you on any forum! Yes, we are both the polite and "afraid to disturb" type so it's more likely we'll just stand up and wink at each other than have a loud conversation! On the other hand, I'm not the one to convince about the EF pair. I'm a pathetic romantic for all my sins, but I'm afraid that if you asked my partner to choose between spending her 15 hour flight with me and no window, or a window and no me, she'll rightly choose the window any day! In truth, we are lucky enough to spend a lot of time together.

Look forward to the trip and the wine, and yes I realise the Q suite can still be replaced, but fingers crossed anyway!

Flew the Qsuite for the first time on a B773 from KWI-DOH on August 8th on the way to a connecting flight to NRT, then flew it yesterday from KWI-DOH on the magnificent A350-1000 - my suite had two windows (!) and all the usual accoutrements. Overall, bit tighter than I imagined but I loved the finishings, quality, general design... and my goodness, there really is no greater luxury on the planet than privacy. Just the ability to slide the door shut and cocoon yourself away - wow.

Can't wait to experience this product again on a flight longer than an hour. Truly the best business class product out there. Well done QR.

I hate to break this to you, but anyone can peer over the door or partitions. There is only the illusion of privacy. Don't do anything I wouldn't do.
