Saw a LinkedIn post that full fare rules are now available when booking through finnair.com. They can be accessed on the final review page before payment.

In the app, it is found on the last page (ie need to through even seat selection and all other ancillary sales pages) before found.

I saw "ticket details" in earlier stages that did not have rules link. However... There is one link to fare rules for each segment.
I assume this is due to the way they now sell tickets, like there are no actual return pricing anymore? I know we have people here with good understanding of GDS'es and fares so I am hoping someone can give some insights. The problem with per segment rules is that there are rules like "IF ALL PENALTIES IN PRICING UNIT ARE PER FARE COMPONENT COLLECT EACH. IF MIX OF PER FARE COMPONENT AND PER PRICING UNIT CALCULATE EACH AS SPECIFIED AND COLLECT HIGHEST. ." for refunds, making it difficult to understand how much is refunded. One would have to know how the total fare was calculated in the first place? |
Most finnair fares don't have penalties anymore, exceptions seem to be linked to joint ventures to Japan or to America. Pure finnair fares are changeable without penalty or not changeable, refundable without penalty or not refundable. Then for these "pure finnair" fares, refund of unused ticket, you get the fare paid on the flex part fully refunded and the one paid on light or classic part not refunded, more info in the fare calculation of the eticket.
Once I had a return ticket in eco flex something like TLL GVA TLL, I wanted to keep my GVA TLL but arrive in GVA by my own means. Platsapp solved it easily: cancellation of the booking of TLL GVA (to avoid being no show), keeping the ticket as it was, perhaps a note in the PNR to allow unsequential use of eticket coupons, I flew GVA TLL and applied for refund of TLL GVA afterwards as advised by Platsapp. The refund was calculated based on the ticket and refundable component (TLL GVA) rather than repriced using actual itinerary (GVA TLL) which is more expensive and refund of the difference. Not really standard airline practice but I was very satisfied. Cancelling the whole ticket and booking one way GVA TLL would have been pretty expensive as my original booking class was quite low and not available anymore at the time my plans changed. |

This should help identify fake J bookings to Australia where connecting legs often were not in J (Cathay Pacific?)? I recall some discussions on here.

I was trying to book flights through AY App. After entering credit card details and conforming through Nordea code app, screen went blank.
Do you think the purchase went through? No emails received. If I buy again, will I be buying 2 tickets for same flights ? |
(This is not a good time to try to contact AY, what with all the strike-related rebookings going on.) But. If you managed to take the process that far, the booking will have been created in the system and the agent can see it. If it was not paid, Janica will be able to send you a payment link to complete the booking.

Chat (24h) was very quick to respond and send a payment link. All sorted now.

I've had this happen before, and then at some stage, the problem goes away. But now it seems more persistent.
Why can't I log in to AY.com? I am using Firefox and I tried emptying the cache and cookies, but that does not help. It will not accept my card number and PIN. (App works fine, as does log-in via Chrome.) |
I'm not entirely sure but you need to approve the cookie settings every now and then for finnair.com site. So turn off Firefox's "Enhanced Tracking Protection" which is behind the shield in the address bar and turn off all adblockers to save the cookie & advertisement setting. Once you have that cookies and ads settings saved, then you can turn adblocker on again and it maybe works?
