AND it is as easy when cancelling later, based on fare rules.

Click "Cancel and refund" . System shows you the full booking, and you can select all or any passenger in the booking, and you can select to cancel outbound, return or both.

AND - if you chose to cancel the entire booking (ie all pax and all segments) you will be presented with the correct refund amount, calculated from fare rules (ie any refund penalty is applied )

Not to mention what happens in the next step.
If you are cancelling an entire booking (ie when you can see the refund amount on the site), the process is 100% automated. You will immediately be notified that ticket is cancelled and refund initiated, and very shortly after (minutes or seconds) you'll get this:

This is generated after the refund transaction has been processed, ie when money has been sent back to the card. Again, that process takes minutes. The only delay then is the handling of your card provider.

Ohhoh. Super. I have not had this need before, I just made my example as I happened to need to cancel and book another option.

Anyway, offtopic or not, as this is not SK forum, I thought these are good peer review examples for AY to take a school example how things CAN BE DONE RIGHT, if they will, if Allen or Valter happen to read here. Or anyone care.

Sorry readers for harrassment :D

I somewhat understand that AY cannot implement the refund amount visibility into customer-facing environment, but it's outright ridiculous that not even their agents can see it. This is a big problem with partially flown tickets where submitting a refund request is like buying a lottery ticket.

Do i remember correctly, but didnt the app used to show also bookings from other Oneworld airlines?
I bought some Qsuite trips with AA flightnumbers but neither PNR adds to AY app.

Yes, but only Amadeus-hosted bookings, I think (therefore purely AA bookings do not show). I’m not sure if it should work with QR PNR.

Hey sorry if this is not the right thread, but I have a question. I have a business class ticket CPH->HND with ticket changes allowed, which I wanted to change. I could see through the normal booking search that there are tons of tickets available with same price as mine so expected at most a minor fee, but the person I spoke to in the chat says the cheapest possible will cost 1000 Euro, which is a bit more than I expected to say the least...

I tried to ask why there's such a difference and the reply was "this is the fare offered". Is this normal? You might as well consider the ticket non-changable in that case with such prices. But maybe this is business as usual? Anyone knows?

This is the new normal unfortunately.

Did you try challenging the agent that there is same fare available? And are you sure its same fare class?

I see, thanks. I did try to challenge and pointed out that I see the same fare I booked available (many different options) for the same price, but they insisted this was the cheapest to do the change. I don't know exactly what they saw on their side though so maybe I should have probed further. For example, the returning flight (that I did not want to change) is economy, so maybe that caused some issue/confusion?

Under the Lite, Classic and Flex is still hidden the old fare buckets. Maybe the same bucket isnt available anymore but the price is (i know, this is strange).
Did you check EF?

But isn't it pretty interesting if OP says similar prices are avilable, and yet changes are 1000€ ? If this is about bucket, does this mean that they only offer him changes to more expensive buckets when cheaper are available? Because they offer changes to something 1000€ more expensive than he can book himself.

This would make it more cost efficient to cancel and book a new ticket.

Would be interesting to hear what bucket OP is booked in and what buckets are available at the same price, to which he is not allowed to change.

Would also be interesting if OP can or cannot do the rebooking himself in manage my booking, and what prices appear there.

This i would like to know also.
It also could be that chat agent managed to make return in J also, instead of Y. But 1000e sounds cheap for that.

Sorry I just realized I didn't mention something possibly important, the change would have also changed the transfer from LHR to HEL, maybe this is the main thing that caused it to be so expensive? It would still be CPH->HND in the same fare with the same price, but I guess I could see the updated routing adding a penalty? Though 1000 EUR still seems very expensive to me considering the tickets are the same price.

I guess this could also be the reason? To be honest I have not looked into this with how buckets work in a lot of detail so it's not obvious to me if it could make sense or not to be honest. I don't have an EF subscription right now so have not checked anything there.

Either way, this time the change would have mostly been nice to have, and I'm perfectly fine without it. But it would be nice to know where my expectations went wrong here to avoid a similar scenario in the future in case I end up really having to do a change.

An IT error in my favor. Was just awarded extra points.. business flex points on two economy flex flights (though one leg was upgraded with voucher). Let's hope they do not prowl here and notice :)

FinOWE Mar 2, 2023 9:16 am

At the end of February Finnair, for some reason, deducted about 15000 points from my lifetime tier points. Despite my requests, they have not been able to tell what happened but just claim it was some kind of system bug and my lifetime tier points are correct now. However, based on my own bookkeeping of points (we all do that because we know the reliability of AY IT, right?), I have not received extra ~15000 lifetime tier points (or any other points) anytime in the past 20 years of my AY+ membership. Can you check if your lifetime tier points are correct?

I received extra award points by mistake once, a year later or so they were automatically "adjusted", i.e. the extra points removed, so I guess there might be some script that runs periodically.

Note to self: use points as soon as possible :D
