" What's for dinner ? " is the first thing my kids say walking through door every single day after school.
Not even a " hi Dad. "
I love it.
Tonight is their favourite - Thai seafood noodles with roast garlic chicken oyster thighs.

Yup. They are the Real Deal when it comes to 99 Cent stores. I sometimes go to no-name 99 stores in the boroughs, and the prices are even HIGHER than the supermarket. And I'm like, "give me a break, I can get this for less than half @ Jack's!" If you hit it just right on a good day, you can get some really premium stuff almost for free.

I did not even realize oysters had legs, much less that the thighs were edible.

I just called the butcher to chop up some sirloin this afternoon. A big helping of steak tartare sounds yummy!

Last night, I made myself eggs benedict. Every once in a while, I get a major hankering for 'em. I'd probably make it more often if it weren't for the time it takes to make hollandaise from scratch, the number of pots and pans used, and the resulting mess/cleanup.

Actually, I quite enjoy making hollandaise.

Along with it... Jack on the rocks.

I'm going to try out a cache of frozen food I recently discovered in a freezer I didn't know was in use... if that doesn't go well; either chinese takeout or an MRE (I've never used a flameless heatpack before). This could be an interesting evening.

Order some Chinese and save the MRE for Doomsday.

I'm going to be brining some chicken breasts for the Weber grill tonight.
