Got a battle field upgrade today out of SLC (along with 2 others. I was #4 for 1 seat at boarding, so I was cool with 10D on a 738 for the 2 hours to MCI. Just before the door closed a redcoat came up to me, verified my name, and asked if I would like to move up a row to 3D. She said that they had some no-shows, so there were a couple of empty seats. She went back and grabbed two more people from somewhere behind me.

I slept the whole way, so the biggest beneficiary was probably the guy in 10E who slid over into the space that I vacated. It did help to keep my upgrade percentage up, I suppose. I'm currently at 53 upgrades out of 58 segments this year.

JFK to LAX ..I am also in economy (not basic economy) ...Comfort Plus full even before any upgrades to anyone. First Class on 767 300 has 5 seats left. 20 seats left in economy. We are 2.5 days out from flight...I assume Delta leaves these seats available for sale given that the route is popular and then perhaps a chance at an upgrade? Not holding my breath of course.
I flew JFK to LAX yesterday. I was in Delta One already but there were 32 people on the upgrade list for 4 D1 seats on a flight at 7am on a Sunday. I was shocked.

No idea if anyone got those seats or people wound up buying them but it was full.

Probably got lucky from people accidentally getting kicked off and re-routed on domestic A330 flights.

I was part of the unfortunate A330 crowd. Spent all day dealing with it. Tried to tell me it was sold out...my response was well, whoever has our seats needs to be bumped. Sent her screenshot and she was mixed up with my itinerary. I know it's a first world problem, but my husband is a very big guy and frankly we only sit in FC now. The change had us stuck in HNL for 8 hrs overnight then an extra leg before home to SEA. Nuts!

PM here, traveling with my spouse who is a GM.

ANC-SEA, B739, UG to C+ at booking, UG to F right at PM window
SEA-ATL, B739, UG to C+ at booking, any chance of F will likely go to the gate.
ATL-ECP, A321, UG to C+ at booking, UG to F right at the PM window for the 1st segment.

I was surprised to see the 3rd segment clear at the same time as the 1st segment, despite that technically being 12 hours before the respective flight's PM window should have opened. Not complaining though!

RDU-ATL 752 upgraded at the DM window. 1 person was upgraded at the gate.
ATL-LAX 753 2 of 30+ for what ended up being 1 upgrade at the gate so I didn't get it. Plane was supposedly full, but there was 1 empty C+ seat in the row in front of me. This was the 1030 am departure that I think was the standard connection for the DL LAX-HNL flight.
Return is Aug 8 redeye BUR-SLC-RDU. As of today BUR-SLC and SLC-ATL (333) each have 11 available FC seats, ATL-RDU has 17.
I could pay for them now but BUR-SLC and ATL-RDU are $235 each and SLC-ATL is $435. A bit too much for me.

7/31:

SDC'ed to later flights which took away my T-72 upgrades to first.

MCI-ATL 739 - upgraded at gate to FC. 1/5 for 1 seat.
ATL-CHS 738 - 13/22 for 0 FC seats, 1/3 for 3 C+ seats. Wasn't upgraded to C+, others were cleared into the seats as flight went out full.

As expected based on the open seats
BUR-SLC upgrade came through about 8 pm on 8/3 - still 8 seats available
SLC-ATL upgrades came through overnight 8/3-4 still 6 seats available for UG
ATL-RDU still 3 seats available for UG

Bad week for F upgrades.

Monday 8/2
DCA-ATL 321 (8 of 34) 1 UG at the gate.
ATL-STL 739 (12 of 69) *not a typo. No gate upgrades. Flight was full.

Wednesday 8/4
STL-ATL 739 (2 of 24) No upgrade. *Oddly, gate agent came onboard at the end of boarding and moved up (2) people to F to fill seats of two passengers who did not show. One of those two was not me. Full flight.
ATL-DCA 321 (10 of 34) No gate upgrades. Full flight.

I was in C+ on all segments.

Good week as a Gold. MSN-ATL and ATL-JFK upgrades at 3 day window for flights today. I noticed the odd feature where when the upgrade to the first flight is available (exactly at 72 hours) that an upgrade on the connecting flight is also available (early) and can be selected manually in the seat map. I was able to grab ATL-MSN Saturday knowing this. JFK-ATL is comfort+ for now.

PM, flying with partner ATL MIA on Sunday. 6 F seats left, both of us in paid C+

Am I wrong to feel hopeful about the upgrade chance? it's been pretty sweet after hitting PM, yesterday got an upgrade ORD LGA
