Earlier this year, I was 5 out of 6 for D1 upgrades on the 767-400 on JFK-LAX (3 r/t flights). Ever since that 3rd flight, I haven't come close to clearing the upgrade list. On a couple flights I did clear into comfort+. Comfort+/PS is quite comfy on the 767-400.

11/12 so far this year with only miss being same day purchase LAX-SFO one way when F was already sold out.
Including 3/3 award travel at diamond window since I started using miles to purchase tickets with booster.

Flight back to Seattle on 5/22 (Sat late afternoon): Upgraded to First a few hours after check in (upon check in, I was 3/3 for upgrades to F & C+). It looked like there were a few open First and C+ seats as well (two people from the standby list were cleared into First as well), although the flight attendant said the flight was "nearly full"

DM, RUC waitlist, Reserve Card

LAX to JFK
Memorial Day, 0 delta one seats available, but first on the upgrade list
I was sitting in my 21E C+ seat for 10 minutes already when the crew came to tell me that I had gotten upgraded to 4C on the new 767-400. Didn’t know they did post boarding upgrades

My guess is someone didn’t make the flight in time?

PM, Both flights flown on 30 May

DL 809
LAX-DTW
A321
Upgraded D-5 shortly after window opened, flight went out with 9 open seats in F

DL 2269
DTW-EWR
A221
Self-selected F seat in app at the same time as I selected my seat for the earlier flight technically outside the window if we're going down to the time of departure for the flight. Interestingly, the "You Have Been Upgraded" Email that was sent afterwards did not show the upgrade for this flight, and another one indicating the upgrade for this flight was sent within the T-120 window. The flight eventually flew out 100% full

I have noticed this for the past several months--often you can select an upgraded seat on your connecting flight at the window for your originating flight, and doing this seems to trigger the "Move on Up" upgrade email.

there are essentially two different processes. The first one determines who gets the upgrade when the window opens. This actually may occur a few hours before the window actually opens "by the book". The second process re-seats you automatically, and this process usually runs overnight.

If you log in after the first occurs but before the second, you'll be able to just move yourself. This has been the way it's worked for several years.

BOS-LAS on 6/2, got a last-minute upgrade to F. Already seated in C+ when agent came on board and asked if I wanted 1A. In retrospect, I probably should have refused - I had an empty middle seat, and actually had more legroom in C+ than I did in the bulkhead. Still, a nice surprise.
