update...

Morning forecast update.

Discussion...

Closed upper low over the big bend will move across tx today.

Coastal low continues to deepen over the lower tx coast which will

continue to support e winds. This will continue to support coastal

flooding issues. Light rain is expected for the rest of the

afternoon but more moderate rain is expected later this evening

and tonight as the upper low moves over the region. The upper low

should move out fairly quickly allowing for drier conditions on

wed. The main update to the forecast was for ongoing precip trends

and adjusting pops as the upper low moves over the region.

It seems that yesterday`s 12z gfs run picked up on a strong

shortwave trough that it had not previously resolved. The

shortwave is now over the pac nw that will move through the area

on fri as a strong jet streak pushes into it on thu. Today`s 12z

gfs continues this trend as does the 12z nam. this brings more

confidence to forecast winter precipitation during the day fri.

The event may be 4 days out but will do the best to hash out

details of the transition from rain to snow as model soundings

support all snow by the afternoon as well as any heavier precip

bands.
the new hazardous weather outlook will detail our latest

thinking but will be updated again this afternoon. Afternoon

forecast package will also feature an sps to outline winter

precip threats/hazards and timing of the event for areas of se tx.

I think the one I'm looking at uses a standard SD card...I'm guessing that's faster than the microSD?

The key is that it can be. Memory cards can be made at different speeds. For cameras you generally want the card to be a bit faster so that it can write the (rather large these days) files off to the card as you generally cannot take another photo until that is done. So a slow card can really slow you down in some scenarios. SD and CF cards are available in a wide range of speeds, from very slow to rather speedy. The microSD cards only make it up to tolerable on the speed scale. In the Sony line I believe the MemoryStick Pro Duo is the faster line and reasonable in performance while the other version are slower.

That actually sounds pretty good. :D

My options were strawberry and chocolate - I think strawberry was the clear winner. :p

I've never seen a snowstorm in Chicago that exceeded the upper end of the forecaster's call.

I've seen several Nebraska ones that certainly have.

Just make some up .....

you could always be MbrFTF (Member Flyter Talk Fourms)

IMHO letters after one's name are so freaking pretentious. I never put letters after my name.

I've seen massive snowstorms in MD/DC that weren't even projected the day before - have to love the moisture from the Chesapeake Bay / Atlantic Ocean.

Huh. First time I've heard of that problem and I've been a heavy Powershot user for years now. I've never had a problem with a Canon,

Me too. I love my Canon. It's small, light, takes good pictures and is easy for a techno-phobe like me - just point, click and be on your way!

I do have initials after my name. (P.E., M.ASCE) but that's nothing compared to one person I know that has "MBE, PhD, DEng, CEng, FICE, FRSE." The sad part is I know what they all mean.

They never do when its an actual snowstorm predicted. It's when they say "a dusting to an inch" that you get 6.

Yes, I can't wait for next year! I shall be so glad to be out of this teeny-tiny rental house.

In fact, today I am HOPPING MAD because we are STILL waiting for my town to issue the excavation permits. It has been one month since we put the application in. ONE FREAKING MONTH! Can you tell I'm steamed???? I want to go down to the boro hall and raise holy he!!, but it wouldn't do any good. They'd just keep me waiting longer out of spite.:mad::mad::mad::mad:
