I've seen massive snowstorms in MD/DC that weren't even projected the day before - have to love the moisture from the Chesapeake Bay / Atlantic Ocean.

Yes, I can't wait for next year! I shall be so glad to be out of this teeny-tiny rental house.
In fact, today I am HOPPING MAD because we are STILL waiting for my town to issue the excavation permits. It has been one month since we put the application in. ONE FREAKING MONTH! Can you tell I'm steamed???? I want to go down to the boro hall and raise holy he!!, but it wouldn't do any good. They'd just keep me waiting longer out of spite.:mad::mad::mad::mad: |

I think IAH with snow accumulation might be a bit worse ;) I can affirm that if there's accumulation on roads, my town should simply shut down due to the elevation changes. Don't want to recreate the videos posted last night.

Too bad you don't live in that surrounding town. I could have made a phone call to speed things up.
I am so mad, I could spit. And these damn permits are not cheap. I think we had to pay about $6000 for them.

I've heard that D.C. residents are terrible about commuting in or coping with snow. Guess it's in one of those transitional zones that doesn't get a big dump of white stuff too often, and has lots of clueless (as to winter driving) Southerners mixed into the population.
Now, those of us in Houston aren't really entitled to throw stones. This place can look like beyond Thunderdome when white death begins falling from the sky. It doesn't happen often enough, though, so we have to make do with local news footage of the idiots in Dallas trying to drive during their (nearly) annual ice-storm. |

I believe I have four different manual can openers with no electric ones. I like saving counter space for other critical appliances (e.g. blender to make drinks, crockpot to make chili).

I was in an ice storm in Dallas when we were hit by another idiot driver that had no clue how to drive in ice and was there another time when the city was polarized for two days. I was at the Anatole and room service wait was over 2 hours. The bar, however, was happily serving anyone who was there and the spa was still open. Not a bad way to spend a couple of days. |
Time to do my annual perf:rolleyes:rmance review.

Agreed, though there are a number of alternatives for both scenarios. I'm pretty good at using a binder clip to get a beer bottle open and I've punched in my share of corks. On the cork front it is way easier with the real ones versus the plastic ones.
2. Hold bottle firmly with non-dominant hand. 3. Smash downwards onto bottle-cap with flat underside of fist on dominant hand. 4. Enjoy beer. |
