There will be evaporational cooling associated with the snowfall, as well as even colder air from the North being drawn in by the low pressure systems. Even though the ground is warm, overpasses and elevated sections of freeway (tons of them in Houston) will likely start icing up during daylight hours, and well before Rush Hour. Once you start seeing snow stick to grass and metal surfaces, there's probably about 1-2 hours before the overpasses start turning into ice-rinks.

You probably have more knowledge about this stuff than I do, but I honestly cannot envision any sort of real traffic problem due to icy roads until sundown, at the earliest.

And while this isn't the best indicator, very few schools have decided (as of now) to close early for the day. So I'm guessing they aren't too worried about bad roads either, or maybe they just don't care and are willing to use sovereign immunity as a defense to any personal injury claims.

Regardless, I'm still planning to do my grocery shopping after work. With any luck, I'll still be able to buy some tortillas.

And, for whatever it is worth, it has stopped raining/snowing in the Galleria area.

I'll put something on that one!;):D

Same thing goes for all of us -- even in these areas where the powers that be can 'handle' the white stuff!

Hmmm. That bird needs to RON after flying in from IAH, so it could get scrubbed or their may be crew rest issues if they arrive too late.

You'll be happy to know that I sent the fiancee to Whole Foods this morning for her own back pain.

Given the time of day for the flight, I would certainly be looking for reroute options and calling now. It shouldnt be too bad here in the hublette.

Honorable Mentions:

IAH-CRP on a Texas International Airlines DC-9-15 (first flight)
OGG-HNL on a 717
HOU-STL on TW
ORD-IAD on a UA DC-10-10
PRG-JFK on an OK A310-300

I've got the HOU-STL on TW as well.

My oddest still has to be DEN-RIW-WRL. FCA-ATL and ABQ-FMN rank up there as well.

Get it yet?

Read it again.

Try again.

Still nothing? Disregard. It's really not that funny, and nothing more than crude.

Okay, get it now?

Yeah, it's a line lifted from St. Elsewhere.

Don't remember that show? Yeah. No one does.

And yes I remember the show.
