Guidos Gone Wild...haha, that's great. So true.

Revelation does say that snow in Houston is tantamount to the world ending...and it also says that a mysterious apparition that looks like an otter will look down upon the city and laugh maniacally.

Very cool! Still have my stuff in the box. Need to get a new power strip for the office and upgrade one of my switches.

I know that severity of snow storms are really nothing more than a function of a city's ability to handle the snow removal, and HOU certainly doesn't have much of an infrastructure to handle more than a dusting, but come on people. It's just snow.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go wrestle a moose.

*mmmmmmmmm.... hammmm.

Plus1. You get a little jaded about snow when you don't see your front yard from Thanksgiving to Easter.

I don't blame the monster; was referring to the poll below asking "will you still let your kids watch Sesame Street?"

Honestly, I don't think that it will be all that bad.

It is still relatively warm out, and the roads aren't going to get cold enough to have ice on them until really late tonight. It will be wet and cold, but there's no reason to make a mad dash home tonight. Traveling on the roads tomorrow morning might be a bit risky, but by the afternoon, all will be fine.

That being said, no one in my office has showed up. For the past 50 minutes or so, I've been the only person on my floor.

Temps for the day already started cooler than forecast (hence the changeover to snow 4 hours early). There will be evaporational cooling associated with the snowfall, as well as even colder air from the North being drawn in by the low pressure systems. Even though the ground is warm, overpasses and elevated sections of freeway (tons of them in Houston) will likely start icing up during daylight hours, and well before Rush Hour. Once you start seeing snow stick to grass and metal surfaces, there's probably about 1-2 hours before the overpasses start turning into ice-rinks.

That said, I love the smell of snow in the morning. :D

Black ice spells doom for the best of drivers. I got in to a headon once when I could not stop my truck in time trying to avoid tatooing PEEJ on the forehead of some tool who had lost control of his neon.

I just built a new PC as well. Athlon Quad-Core, Asus MB and 8GB RAM with Windows 7. Worked fine last night, ran Windows Update and now I keep getting Blue Screened. I find it entertaining that M$ named the official error as 'BlueScreen'.

What are the chances of my 5:35 am flight tomorrow being delayed because of this mess?

I love how you can walk outside and the ambient noise level is cut to near-silence.

If you're flying out of LGA, i'd say decent since the plane has to come from IAH unless they position something from EWR.
