They all go to a different group and cannot play each other in the first round, the rest of the pots are arranged by geographical region to make sure there is a mix of confederations in each group.

Well I have tix for D1vD4 and G1vG3.
that means I have a 28.6% chance of seeing the Albicelestes

I miss getting the weekend edition of the Grauniad delivered.

True, but the other question was who gets put with Africa, since you'd rather see the Asian/NZ teams vs. African ones. FIFA apparently decided that Paraguay, Uruguay, and Chile were "stronger" than the Estados Unidos, Mexico, and Honduras. I think that's debatable.

The few that did had opinions such as "the local news always says that, then it never happens. It'll probably be 70 tomorrow." I wish them the best trying to get back home tomorrow afternoon. :-:

Hope those individuals have a fridge in their office like I do.

Not sure what you mean. Pot 1 is the top seed by definition. The way the seeds were determined was somewhat arbitrary and designed to make sure France wasn't seeded. Going by the most recent FIFA rankings () they already don't have the top eight teams in that pot: France ranks ahead of England, and South Africa is one of the weaker teams in the draw. (I suspect that South Africa will wind up in a group with Slovenia, New Zealand, and Uruguay.)

are you predicting FIFA shenanigans?

The host gets a top seed by default.

It might take a call. CO Insider actually had to put a request to add the routes to their system back in the SkyTeam days. No one really knows about them, but AF still needs to serve them as at least one of them is a "state" of France.

And given the short stage lengths, Y would be just fine.

I had to look up GRR (which originally read as Grrrrrr.... in travel terms :p ). I might have been throwing in the towel as well and waiting for a more friendly day.

I have travel planned for Saturday - am hoping any Friday Fubar cleans itself up by then.

Good luck with whatever you do!

I hate being all packed and no where to go

I think I'm going to see what things are looking like in the a.m. and go from there, though I was planning on leaving at 4:30!:eek:

I'm only coming up with Y when I tell the query to return non-Y. And the island hopping doesn't appear to be cheap

FIFA is synonymous with shenanigans. The only question is which official is more corrupt. It is quite a competition.
