A couple of things he said make me wonder whether he's been watching the games -- he said the US struggles to score during the run of play, which wasn't true at all before Davies's car accident. I'd also rather see Denmark than, say, Serbia.

Here's a question for you and :rolleyes:v:
Are all the teams in pot 1 guaranteed to be top seed in their group? A lot can change in six months...

Can Beavers answer?

Cletus done wrecked the other de-icing truck earlier tonight while gettin' a "roadie" from his pet raccoon.

I've read some of that guy's TRs before, including the Conviasa one. He has flown on an intriguing assortment of carriers and routes.

They don't sell international routes on their site. The guy in the TR, went to the airport and got a paper ticket.

Its odd to see our remote control deicing trucks up here. The dude can drive it from the cherrypicker!

The Pot 1 teams are seeded based on winning their groups and the rest were based on the current FIFA ranking, that is how Argentina got in that pot.
They all go to a different group and cannot play each other in the first round, the rest of the pots are arranged by geographical region to make sure there is a mix of confederations in each group.

In PHL, they close the schools for 3" of snow. I always tell people that where I grew up, 9" of snow is called "Hey, look, it's snowing outside!" :D

Not sure what you mean. Pot 1 is the top seed by definition. The way the seeds were determined was somewhat arbitrary and designed to make sure France wasn't seeded. Going by the most recent FIFA rankings () they already don't have the top eight teams in that pot: France ranks ahead of England, and South Africa is one of the weaker teams in the draw. (I suspect that South Africa will wind up in a group with Slovenia, New Zealand, and Uruguay.)

Tomorrow is going to be absolute chaos because the local news and NWS were under-forecasting until the last minute (hard to believe such a snow event would happen, especially as it will be the earliest ever recorded in Houston). Lots of businesses downtown (law firms, oil companies, etc.) will have most of their employees come in tomorrow morning (it will just be rainy until slightly before noon). Once the surface gulf low, upper level low, and southern jet turn on the Gulf-effect snow, there's going to be a lot of people scrambling to make an escape home. Should be absolute pandemonium on the highways tomorrow. Glad I'm not driving.

Very few people that I came into contact with seemed to have even the slightest clue that it could snow tomorrow. The few that did had opinions such as "the local news always says that, then it never happens. It'll probably be 70 tomorrow." I wish them the best trying to get back home tomorrow afternoon. :-:

Thinking of just throwing in the towel!

I had to look up GRR (which originally read as Grrrrrr.... in travel terms :p ). I might have been throwing in the towel as well and waiting for a more friendly day.

I have travel planned for Saturday - am hoping any Friday Fubar cleans itself up by then.

Good luck with whatever you do!
