Just once I'd like to arrive at MSY and not have to deal with total incompetency on the part of the employees at that airport's National Car Rental location when picking up my car. Just once. Is that too much to ask?

Apparently it is.

Oh, and can we just put Chrysler out of its misery so their POS cars will stop showing up in rental fleets? The only thing worse than dealing with the National MSY agents who seem to be incapable of checking out a car is dealing with them after being forced to choose between a Sebring, base model 300, or PT Cruiser.

I really think you need to lower your expectations on rental car companies ;)

Much as I'd love to see it, consensus over there appears to be that if the dominos fall into place, most of the coastal snow in the coming week would fall from New Orleans to Pensacola. :(

My cousin is going down to visit Tulane this weekend. That should be interesting.:D

Not sure. It's most likely either me, fozz, or CO777DAL. I can't remember who else was in the conversation.

All I ask is that it doesn't take 20 minutes and 15,000 keystrokes and walking off giggling to get a supervisor to get a car checked out. Or pulling up to the exit window and being told "Hold on, I'm on the phone" and then being forced to wait while the person working in the booth carries on with an obviously personal conversation on her cell phone. Or arriving and being told "We have no cars ready" while there tons of cars sitting there that haven't been prepped and 10 employees are sitting around outside doing nothing.

I used to not have these experiences on a consistent basis like I do now. And the MSY and BTR locations are especially awful.

Happy birthday anniversary Baglady....I feel like I am in a race and just kaing putstops here this week.

Although I am late in saying it, thank you all!!!!!!!!! BL JR kept telling people I was 23; I have no idea why unless someone told her to say that, because she knows how old I am. We had lunch at the same restaurant we ate at the day before we got married. It had closed and the original owner just reopened it in time for my bday, very nice of him ;) . . . AND they were selling all their wine half off so that they could put their own in, so bought 4 nice bottles as a present to myself.

My new air card wouldn't work and I couldn't justify the $14.95 at the W when we were already paying more to park the car than rent the car . Old age is making me cheap! :p

Pure insanity. No excuse for that at all. I don't believe a good rental car company exists. I still have no idea why whatever car we rent from at LAX is the last bus.

ATTN: Box Photo-Gurus

I'm about to plunk down some green for a digital camera and have done some homework. I'm 99% sure this Sony is the camera I want to get but I wanted to get some other opinions first. What makes this one stand out for me is the hefty optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and quick shutter time. Consumer reports has it listed as a "best buy" under the super-zoom category.

A close second right now is this one from Panasonic.

I know there are some big Canon Powershot fans here but after reading some articles about "lens fault", I think I may shy away from that brand.

The models I'm looking at are little pricey so if anyone has experience with these or cameras with smaller pricetags that perform as well, I'd appreciate it.

I saw the snow model that ALCO posted and while it would cool I doubt it will happen.

It's contigent on moisture from a small low pressure system in the Gulf which is being pushed further out today. My money is on us having a hard freeze and possibly a flurry.

Then again, I'm no weatherman, I just hang out on the Wunderground.com forums ;)

Steph3n Dec 1, 2009 5:36 am

I made it in safely going for some sleep now.

Me too, but I agree, no snow. Had some up in Flagstaff though, that was cool.

Belated birthday wishes to sdm1130 and baglady; I was remiss in my FT activity while traveling.

Also, due to the temperature inside dipping below 65, I have given in to my wife's begging and turned on the heat. I feel dirty.

Morning, Box.
