Should be interesting what the LH fare sale is all about in a little while!!
|
Much as I'd love to see it, consensus over there appears to be that if the dominos fall into place, most of the coastal snow in the coming week would fall from New Orleans to Pensacola. :(

Interesting. Some of the blog comments over at Weather Underground (by reasonably informed weather/meteo-geeks) showing an increasing possibility of a significant Gulf-Coast snowstorm taking place. Latest GFS model showing possible 6-8" snow accumulations near Houston within a 114-hour time-frame.

That is very interesting. We in OK would get none of that, well perhaps a few days after yall get it down there!!
As best I understand it, the low that's tracking out of the Gulf near Brownsville at the moment could pull down some cold air causing some Tuesday/Wednesday snow along the Eastern Gulf Coast. Whether it does or not, it will be a pretty nasty storm once it tracks up the East coast (perhaps not as bad as the remnants of Ida/Noreaster were, but nasty). Then another low may emerge into the Gulf afterwards and tap into a cold air-mass that's due to get dammed over the midwest/great-lakes, causing more coastal snow. That's the gist of it, so far as I can tell. It's like wading into a cross between the UA, BD, and CO Forums, with a dash of OMNI, but populated by unrepentant meteo-nerds. |

If Houston ever gets 6-8" of snow, it'll be time for a full-on 5 Million Person freak-out. We got some serious cold snaps and decent snows (3" or so) in the 80s. I don't think the Houston area has seen snowfall totals of 6"+ since about the 1960s. I'm trying to think which buildings downtown would give me the best views of the Pierce Elevated and 59 if such were to occur. Need to check the batteries on my camcorder. :-:

I had forgotten about that. Worth staying away another 17 minutes, I suppose.

They have that many deicing trucks down there? I wonder if the airport has any plows?
