I saw the snow model that ALCO posted and while it would cool I doubt it will happen.
It's contigent on moisture from a small low pressure system in the Gulf which is being pushed further out today. My money is on us having a hard freeze and possibly a flurry. Then again, I'm no weatherman, I just hang out on the Wunderground.com forums ;) Latest GFS is still showing a significant snow event for the Houston area by around Friday, with the other models (which were showing a dryer pattern) trending towards more moisture/precip. |

As I understand it, the snow forecast for Friday is not really dependent on this low in the Western Gulf. By then, that low will be off the Northeast U.S., and a new low is supposed to form in the Western Gulf, sucking down cold, unstable air from the midwest. The surge of cold air is supposed to start pushing down the front range of the Rockies from Canada by tomorrow. So, if it's looking very cold in Wyoming, Colorado, and Kansas by mid-week, things should be on track.

There looks to be conflicting data on Wunderground. I'm seeing multiple models that show the low hanging around the southeast and rain being in the forecast throughout the week. Then I see a different set that predicts dry weather till the weekend.

Well, yes. Arguing about the models over there is like arguing about who has a better F cabin... LX, NH, or EK. I'm just sending all the positive energy I can towards the models and forecasters that give us the best chance for a serious winter storm. It would be epic. :D

Just what kind of woman are you dating, anyhow? Have you not trained her in emergency duck uplink procedures?

Houston is either hot and wet or cold and wet. Either way, it is miserable. That being said, I'd rather it snow than just freeze. |
