The #1 rule of the Olton Hall chance snow prediction. If the weather people are talking about a major snow event several days in advance, you will either get a small flurry, a lot of rain, or nothing at all. It's almost like mother nature goes "Oh crap, they are on my little plan. I won't give them snow then."

I think the odds of such a let-down are amplified when you consider that the odds of Houston experiencing a major winter storm are about even with a Cat 3 Hurricane making landfall over Manhattan.

I wouldn't call the cameras you are looking at as pricey. That Canon problem was from a few years ago btw. It's hard to make a recomendation since the two cameras you are looking at are different in size. I would go with the one that is the size you want. The Sony is much larger. Sony has many cameras in the same size as the Panasonic. The true test of a camera is how good the photo looks on your computer. In the past Sony's have had a slight blue tint to them. Not really an issue as any photo program can easily remove that tint. The Panasonic's with the Leica lenses have very sharp and clear photos but in the past some colors, particularly orange and yellow have been muted.

I have had the Canon issue happen to me as well, most recently this summer in HKG. I ended up buying a new one.

If it does snow, which is a big if, you will be totally hosed if trying to connect through Houston.

Bread and milk. Buy speggettios and make sure you have a manual can opener. Then you're safe if you get standed for more than 5 hours. On one news broadcast a few years ago a reporter asked one shopper why she was buying bread and milk and the woman looked at the reporter like she was some dumb a$$ and said "Because you're supposed to."

Little to none. I predict a non-event.

CO's Twitter is pretty good about putting up the weather warnings.

I never understood the obsession with buying bread, eggs, and milk before snow storms.

I think it's nothing more than a conspiracy from the French Toast council of the US to increase consumption. @:-)
