Transcons always seem full to me -- even on a 753. I've not seen more than 10 seats open on EWR-SFO in quite a while.

Not disagreeing. But the fact that he's registered Republican kinda trumps things that might point in a different direction. And let's not forget history, he was appointed by Bush in 05.

Agreed.

Thank you for sending me to a page with Barney Frank's picture on it. :p

Then I'd say a single flight a day EWR-LAX and EWR-SFO need to be on the 753 to accurately test whether or not the WiFi is viable.

I agree with Steph3n then, I wonder if CO will actually do such routings.

most interesting is that Getty has that image cataloged and it is on a few news sites.

It is my sense that CO enjoys the economics of the 753 but does not over schedule them for MX reasons. I would be curious to know the % of MX issues that this fleet experiences in comparison to the other narrow bodies.

I think with the 4 'new' 753s coming onboard they may have some flexiblity to do this with a transcon a day in 753 then runs from the west coast back to IAH (or ewr if going reverse) down into a normal leisure route. The 4 added should also allow some flexibility in MX as well.

MX issues aren't notably higher according to a deadheading pilot next to me a couple months ago. they were quite bad on the exATA birds initially but it wasn't engines and the likes, it was lavs, cabin specific things, and a few other mechanical differences They got those repaired and it is good overall now.

Khomeini had a huge negative effect on this country. He and his government's actions seriously demoralized this nation which added to the bad economics of the time. Those were some dark times. You can say his influence still lives since ABC Night Line is still on TV.

Too bad Wall St. thinks the low USD is a good thing.

Agreed. Cost versus function. That is always the question.

Can the 753 make the westbound transcon runs? For some reason I thought that they were limited on those routes. I do agree that having them on transcons makes a significant difference versus FLL hops in terms of judging the viability of the service.

I'm going to have to get much better at stalking the FAA's STC database to track this sort of stuff. There is a wealth of information in there.

RE: MX on the 753s, I understand that the slidey seats were a nightmare for CO to deal with. I'm sure that contributed to issues.

Then in that case, Bernanke is a good choice, since he has had an effect on this country.

Yes, the 753s can make westbound transcons without much issue. I've done EWR-SFO on it many times.
