I am going to try to book my US-UK via South America trip today. My ultimate destination is LHR, where taxes are outrageous.
I think doing the stopover in FRA dropped them substantially so that may be worth looking at. |

I never do hotel dinners, I don't enjoy room service, in fact I hate it. I eat at some hotel restaurants, but I do NOT have it brought to my room. Seems anti social to me :D

ETA - is the 4000 mile penalty for connecting in Europe also divided in half when you do a one-way? Also, it is just a flat penalty for any connections, not 4000 miles per connection in Europe, correct? |

I just changed my EWR-GLA-LHR-BOS-LGA flight to EWR-LHR-FRA-PHL and the taxes went from $210 to $160.
I think doing the stopover in FRA dropped them substantially so that may be worth looking at. In any case, I'm going to call the ICC in an hour and see how it goes. |

I thought of doing that, but because my ultimate destination is LHR (will be staying there for over a week), the cost of buying a ticket FRA-LHR-FRA probably is a wash when considering the reduction in taxes. It might be worth it to save the miles, though.
In any case, I'm going to call the ICC in an hour and see how it goes. I was trying to get LCY in the mix but that was proving to be a challenge. Both LX and LH do fly to LCY though. |
I'm having all sorts of problems getting to FT this morning. As it turns out, my packets seem to have found a good routing on UA.
