Someone decided to take Airline Mogul a little too seriously, I guess.

I just changed my EWR-GLA-LHR-BOS-LGA flight to EWR-LHR-FRA-PHL and the taxes went from $210 to $160.

I think doing the stopover in FRA dropped them substantially so that may be worth looking at.

Sorry for not being clear... I fully agree with you: I never do hotel dinners. I meant nice dinners out and then some drinks either there or in the hotel bar (since I'm usually the one driving). And the breakfasts are served in dining rooms, too, usually at Garden Inns or Holiday Inns.

But tell me you have not wondered how hard it might be if you wet lease a plane with some decent financial backing and solid destinations?

The Hampton beds are Serta Perfect Sleepers. Just go to Sleepys and look for the sheep.

ETA - is the 4000 mile penalty for connecting in Europe also divided in half when you do a one-way? Also, it is just a flat penalty for any connections, not 4000 miles per connection in Europe, correct?

I'm not sure about the penalty. It irks me so much that I always just book open jaws and buy cheap one-ways on Euro Carriers to avoid spending the extra mileage.

I thought of doing that, but because my ultimate destination is LHR (will be staying there for over a week), the cost of buying a ticket FRA-LHR-FRA probably is a wash when considering the reduction in taxes. It might be worth it to save the miles, though.

In any case, I'm going to call the ICC in an hour and see how it goes.

Could you do stopovers?

I was trying to get LCY in the mix but that was proving to be a challenge. Both LX and LH do fly to LCY though.

I'm having all sorts of problems getting to FT this morning. As it turns out, my packets seem to have found a good routing on UA.
