I'm taking a trip - from NE D.C. to Hyatt Fair Lakes*. Starting off my Hyatt year in good fashion.

* Not a great hotel but as a diamond and $48 a night during double-counted stays and FFN ...

Do you consider Hyatt hopping 30 miles from home "dignified"? :p

I could...but I'd prefer to have to sit in a F cabin on a plane and consume several cocktails.

Sounds like the free night given to all diamonds? I used mine at HP ATL South on the day back from AUA - I was about to pay $110 for a room night but the free night was given out the day before ^ I Skyped from AUA to GoldPassport Support and "fixed" that problem.

I am burning the stay as I am driving to PSP anyway and will not leave until about 9 pm tomorrow. I get some additional sleep and some bread for breakfast.

I'm OK in a hotel suite with a bottle of Woodford.

I'll probably just miss you. Going to be on Maui for a week, Kauai for a week, and then end up burning a few FFNs on Waikiki the 8th-10th.

Tell Mark in the Regency club we said hello

A mattress run without the mattress run. :D

I should make this call as well, missing my special offer by one night

Not only can you get bread / fruit / coffee (and some packets of tea), you're eligible for the diamond amenity still. I didn't want to confuse the front desk asking for the 500 points and got in early evening, with no car and no desire to eat at the only restaurant in walking distance (Ruby Tuesday), so I took the large salad and drink option. Also had a duty-free six pack in my luggage from AUA.

Did you pay for said bottle of Woodford? Free booze is better than booze I need to pay for.

The Hyatt website is being very  with me this evening. After 4-5 tries, I finally got a rate of $62 at the HP Eden Prairie MN for New Year's. Still seems high.

And then I move another 3.7 miles away to Hyatt Place Chantilly/Dulles Airport-South. :D

I do procure my own Woodford. Until such time as I can spend my weekends taking advantage of the GEG-fare equivalent it's cheaper for me that way when Hyatt stay counts double, FFN, diamond points, free real breakfast, etc.

The interpretation I got from Hyatt (twice) was that NYE counts as 2009 - just like when one earns a FFN, the award is "earned" at the time of the second check in. So I'm checking in on the 1st and 2nd, when rates did indeed crater.

Touché (even though I don't eat breakfast).

Though free is free, and I like free.

HP Ontario Mills has always gotten me the amenity points, despite what has been posted on the Hyatt board. The manager, for some reason, loves me, and I always get cookies and a beer (Miller Lite ) as my personal amenity. There is an Outback nearby and also a Chik-Fil-A, which is rare in So Cal (I have major coupons which will pay for tomorrow's lunch)...
