Aloha box from sunny SoCal.
Security at Terminal C was a beast this morning. Kinda weird flying on an alliance-less airline. They used :-: Priority tags and there was a new ad just outside the boarding door (something about receiving Star treatment) but that was it. |

:D I was only 11, so that is still a bit of a child. It was a year and a half before I started my own business even.

No shortage of outlets at the Westin Minneapolis. The number of outlets at all hotels seem to be hit or miss.
The worst is the less than 10 year old Sheraton in Baton Rouge, where there are no outlets that easily accessible at the desk, without unplugging the lamp and coffeemaker. The coffeemaker is easy to live without, but not the lamp. In some rooms, that outlet is slightly behind the TV cabinet, and almost impossible to get to. This is in a hotel that opened around 2002 or 2003, so it's not like an old building that dates from the pre-laptop/cell phone days. I've really taken to just charging devices through USB cables plugged into my laptop while I have the laptop on. It has cut down on the number of cables and plugs I have to carry, and it means I can charge most everything I need to using just one outlet, if the laptop is turned on. |

I'm no longer a car registration deadbeat. After several hours of  and trips back home to get additional paperwork, and a clueless guy at the tax office who finally verified what I was telling him with a supervisor, I have Georgia tags for my car. I moved here well over a year ago, and still had my Texas plates. It was an enormous hassle.
On the other hand, the guy screwed up, didn't realize my residency change was in 2008, not 2009, looked at my birthday (for some screwy reason Georgia uses your birthday for assessing vehicle registration taxes), and didn't charge my 2009 tax, even though I moved here before my birthday in 2009. That alone saved me several hundred dollars today, and given the major PITA this whole thing was, I wasn't about to correct him. Even better, he didn't photocopy any of the records used to assess my residency date, so I doubt they have any way of figuring out he did it wrong and didn't catch that my documents were over a year old. In other good news, my partner has a very promising job lead in a Northeastern city we both really like. :D |

Houston people, what's the weather forecast supposed to be like around 11:00 PM CDT tonight when I'm landing there? Hoping all this nasty weather is long gone by then.

Hey sfogate, can you pass a ^^ to the ground staff that handled yesterday's diaper delayed SFO-CLE flight? Mrs. MBM3 and friends endured the 8+ hour delay and complemented the staff on their handling of the situation. The 04:00 arrival here at the hublette was pretty sucktastic, but life goes on and I am on a day long search for caffeine! :D
They should find that parent and submit a bill, or at least let them know how much their stupidity and ign:rolleyes:rance cost the airline and other passengers. |
