There's a Mexican place we found one weekend we were in the LA area back in March that is outstanding, but it's about 20 miles away. Not sure I feel up to driving over there tonight.

Where are you in the metro area? I know you're in LA but it is a large place. :)

Very strong potential for this to happen. I think I found an LH/MS itinerary that gets us there. Haven't looked at the return yet. And if we dive we'd need a day off at the end so we could see the pyramids and other "normal" Egypt stuff on the way back home.

The concierge here is a trip. He's a really nice guy, but he's pushing 80. He always remembers me, but not my name; when I arrive each week I'm here he gives me a hardy "Well hello there, xxxx!" and whatever name comes out won't be mine, but he's sure it is. That's then followed by "Wait, you're not, xxxx, you're yyyy, no, wait, what is it?" After I remind him it's Steven, the rest of the week we're good.

A month later, I come back, we have the same conversation again.

The guy has apparently lived in the area for decades, and one evening was telling me and another guy about how he remembers Walt Disney buying the land where Disneyland sits out here in the middle of nowhere, and how he and his wife and their baby drove over to watch the groundbreaking for Disneyland, and then later went to the park during its first week of operation. For years his career was in management with a large retail chain, and after retirement, he decided he needed something else to do for fun and to get him out of the house for a few hours every day, so he became a concierge at this Marriott, and works the lounge's evening shift.

Long day. A client called this morning with the ol' "I need this yesterday trick":rolleyes: which has had me working the last 9 hours. Think I got it under control. I think to myself just a week to my little LAS trip! Wohoo! How is everyone tonight?

Hrm, yeah, I dunno of anything in that particular area either. Newport Beach has lots of great stuff but that is a haul from where you are.

Yep. I've gone over there before. And the really great, upscale Mexican place I know of in Redondo is not as far, but still a haul. Maybe I'll just hit an In and Out or something.
