Yep. I'm always amazed at how pleasant UA's E+ can be even on longer flights. I never feel the least bit cramped on my cross-country flights on their 763s and 777s, even though my upgrades on those flights never clear. A better seat, plus more leg room, in at least part of the cabin, would go a long way toward making CO more pleasant in the back.

Unfortunately the state of the airline industry is such that most passengers care nothing about comfort when they buy the ticket (although they may ..... and moan during/after the flight). Most people seem to be content to buy tickets that cost well below the cost of actually providing the service, and while they may complain about service cuts, it won't stop them from flying or insisting that they pay those low, low prices.

I think I've asked this before, but I forget the answer... Are BD Gold upgrade certs worth anything in CC or should I just give them away?

We lucked out with our strain last week. It was annoying but more of a bad cold than the Mack truck effect. Phew!

And even if you try to point this out in a reasoned, non-confrontational manner, the discourse goes nowhere.

Last three vehicles disposed of by icurhere2:

Yamaha Virago - sold
Chrysler Concorde - bought back by dealer under lemon law
Toyota Camry wagon - donated to charity

Current car will probably be sold for scrap value at Pull-A-Part, as I expect it to last less than a year more. I hate selling cars more than picking out eyeglasses.

I have decided that the only domestic vehicle probably worth the combined price and experience of ownership nowadays is a Corvette.

Yet another fine vehicle I will never fit in.

+1 (sigh). That is one of those topics that will get a FT heated debate going for sure.

But it's height and not weight for you. Regardless of body type, anyone over about 6'5" is likely excluded from the current generation of 'Vette.

Yep, my girth, while substantial, does not keep me out of stuff (including Y on most airlines), it is my height. Just can't get my legs into 31 inches of pitch.

One of my funniest travel stories was me being given an upgrade to the Saturn roadster and I literally had to crawl out of it on my hands once I managed to shoehorn myself inside. The agent was visibly upset when I had to change cars as she thought she had done me such a nice favor.

I did this a couple years ago when the dealer I was buying my replacement car through hosed me on their offered trade in value.

It took about 2 weeks, a few shennanigans, but as it always does - craigslist came through -- and I pocketed an extra $4k over what the dealer wanted to give me. I think I'm on someone's poop list* but the hate emails stopped about a year ago. :D

*The guy I sold it to is a lawyer and was huffin' and puffin' that he bought a lemon (why exactly he thought I was selling it is beyond me). I told him to tell me where I mis-represented anything either verbally or in writing and he couldn't.

Same here, plus my shoulders.

Yup. Ignorance on the part of the general flying population would most likely result in an answer like "But the airlines make a crapload of cash on F."

In a related item, I remember angrily getting up in the virtual face of some super-tard in UA-land who had the gall to say that Y flyers should thank F flyers since their high-yield purchases make it possible for Y to exist. Even if the economics of the aircraft work out for that to be true, it's just a disgusting thing to verbalize.
