At least in the days of regulation you couldn't just start a new airline that crossed state lines on a whim, and if you were an airline that crossed state lines, you couldn't just charge any fare you wanted. Granted, the cost of flying was a lot more, but airlines actually competed on service and quality, and they weren't stuck in a perpetual state of near bankruptcy either.

And there weren't FF programs because airlines usually had monopolies on routes.

Box Random Knowledge:

1. What serves as an SPG card in place of an SPG card? I didn't think I would use it so I threw out the card that came with the CO promo. I want to carry something just in case. My Account printout? I did request a new card, but in case it doesn't arrive in time...

2. How does one adjust Presentation Settings in Windows Vista? I boo-booed last night at the trivia event and specified that my screen only get beamed to the projector. Couldn't see my screen unless it was displayed to the room via the projector. :o Need to rectify that. Options?

Weird Box request. Does anyone have any candid photos that has me in it from the various DO's this year? I'm looking for some. Me being the one who usually has the camera, candid photos of myself just don't happen.

BD metal only, and you have to be a BD Gold.

And, they can only be redeemed at the airport on the day of departure.

I have:

From the UA RCC:
  • 1 - Quaker oatmeal raisin chewy granola bar
  • 5 - Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares
  • 1 - Walker's shortbread chocolate chip cookies

From UA F:
  • 2 - Premium snack mix

From a CO PC:
  • 1 - Walkers shortbread
  • 2 - Honey oat granola bars

Most of that came from Friday when I stocked the bag up at ORD, since I was out of snacks.

Yep. I'm not saying a return to full regulation is what's needed — but the current free-for-all isn't leading to long-term viability for any airline either.

I was only referring to the laptop case - don't get me on the various pockets / compartments of the Patagonia raincoat I wear everyday "between seasons" ;)

If you request a replacement card on spg.com, you have the option of printing a temporary card. Since I have a bad habit of losing my various cards, I keep a printout in my papers that I carry when I seem to stay at SPG properties.

When considering eating a cupcake that has crumb goodness atop it, it is often most valuable to sample a crumb at the bottom of the box. If crumb tastes like crap, odds are cupcake will, hence cupcake should be avoided. This life lesson brought to you by me in my kitchen a few minutes ago.

Do SPG cards actually serve a purpose?
