Just keep in mind that you'll only get 1/2 a OP mile per SPG point transferred.

In my quest to maximize RDM's without a huge flying schedule, that is a somewhat viable option. I'm going to use this free status and the nights from the Star Do to give SPG a try. If I like, I might switch from HH. If I do switch, I go all out and switch to SPG AmEx. We shall see.

I wish I could do the reverse. I have OP miles coming out of my ears but I'm mediocre in all hotel programs.

I bet there's a place where those with transferable hotel points (not SPG) would actively desire OP miles.

Nothing. It doesn't give me options.

The ones I've used don't give options — it just happens.

As for Windows Help — I doubt you'll find anything there. This isn't as much of an operating system function as it is related to the hardware and video card driver. It's possible your system doesn't support what you're trying to do, although I've never used a laptop that didn't.

It's usually a keyboard thing. You need to press the blue Fn shift key near the bottom left of the keyboard and one of the Fn keys' (usually F5 or F7) at the same that may have words such as LCD on it. It will cycle through Laptop, Laptop+Projector, and Projector only.

Fn-F5 is indeed LCD, but further pushes of F5 result in no cycling. I don't have the projector handy, will wait for that.

it won't do anything unless you have something connected like LCD, external monitor, etc

CM. It should be Fn, F5 for your computer.

I think there is a medication for that.

It is, however, best not to expect Gold upgrades as they are extremely rare.

IME, a bit more likely ex-US than in the US. Inside the US, Gold is good for a free bottle of water about half the time.

If you don't have an external video sources connected, it probably won't cycle.

Will connect projector later and report back. I'm too lazy to haul the thing out of my car right now.

Looks like both of my classes are going to "make". Now I need to engage/keep as many as possible in the very large class for extra compensation. If 90% of the students make it through two weeks it's an extra $1,800 in December.

I'm looking at a photo of your keyboad. What does Fn-F9 do?

More proof that I should have never done the hotel thing and pursued a terminal degree right from the start.

I love SPG but depending on where you go, you may have difficulty finding a hotel in that program. Or, you may be someplace where the only Starwood property is a dump, and there are great properties that are part of Hilton, Marriott, or Hyatt. Starwood, like Hyatt, suffers from lacking properties in many, many markets. Hilton, Marriott, and Intercontinental are much better in that regard. It all depends on what you're looking for, and what style of hotel appeals to you, since the different players are often targeting different demographics.
